BEEF BEEF

WHY??

- Cattle grazing is the leading cause of deforestation

- Brazil is the world’s largest exporter of beef

- 23% of the world’s beef comes from Brazil

- Brazil is the most forested country in the world

- Includes one-third of Earth’s rainforests

WHY??
- Due to increased demand, Brazil reopened the rainforest for
commercial exploitation in 2019
- Deforestation rose by 88% in that year alone (Fearnside, 2019)
- A soccer field of rainforest is burned every minute for cattle
grazing (New York Times, 2019)
- If this trend continues, Brazilian rainforests will be completely
destroyed by 2064 (Walker, 2021)
