Parts of young a bone

The long bone has three parts, the two ends


and a shaft.
(1) EPIPHYSIS
The ends and tips of a bone that ossify from
secondary centers. These are the expanded
ends of each long bone. These are
Pressure epiphysis; takes part in weight
transmission.
Tarction epiphysis; does not takes part in weight
transmission.
Atavistic epiphysis; these are independent bone which is
fused to another bone.
Aberrant epiphysis; are not always present.

(2) DIAPHYSIS
Also known as shaft of the bone.
It ossify from the primary center. It is a tubular structure
(3) METAPHYSIS
It is the part present adjacent to the
epiphyseal cartilage. It is present between the
diaphysis and epiphysis. It is a zone of active
growth.
(4) EPIPHYSEAL CARTILAGE
It’s a cartilage present between diaphysis
and epiphysis. It separates diaphysis from
epiphysis.
