EUTHENICS

FINAL COVERAGE
BY: MR. JAYMIE C.
TUMALIUAN MSCRIM.
What is ethics?
• Defined as “the science of the morality of human
acts and rational human behavior”.
• It is the capacity to determine right conduct and the
knowledge of what is right from wrong a system of
moral principles or moral standards governing conduct
• It is a particular system of principles and rules
concerning duty.
BIBLICAL VIEW OF ETHICS
• Biblically speaking, it is God, as Creator of a morally
ordered universe, and as an absolutely perfect being,
who is the author of morality (Gen. 2:17).
• It is God who endowed the creation with norms and
standards and holds its inhabitants answerable to
him (Gen. 3:17; Ps. 33:13–15).
• In biblical terms, then, ethics is not a human
invention. It is rooted in God himself
• Science defines ethics as “a set of moral
principles, the study of morality.”
• Therefore, Christian ethics would be the principles
derived from the Christian faith by which we act.
While God’s Word may not cover every situation
we face throughout our lives, its principles give
us the standards by which we must conduct
ourselves in those situations where there are
no explicit instructions
• Christian ethics is well summarized by Colossians 3:1-6:
“Since, then, you have been raised with Christ, set your
hearts on things above, where Christ is seated at the right
hand of God. Set your minds on things above, not on
earthly things. For you died, and your life is now hidden
with Christ in God.
• When Christ, who is your life, appears, then you also will
appear with him in glory. Put to death, therefore, whatever
belongs to your earthly nature: sexual immorality,
impurity, lust, evil desires and greed, which is idolatry?
Because of these, the wrath of God is coming.
• The Bible is all we need to know about how to live
the Christian life. For example, the Bible does not
say anything explicitly about the use of illegal drugs.
• For one thing, the Bible tells us that the body is a
temple of the Holy Spirit and that we should honour
God with it (1 Corinthians 6:19-20).
• The Bible also tells us that we are to follow the
authorities that God Himself has put into place
(Romans 13:1).
QURANIC VIEW OF ETHICS
• The Arabic word for morality is akhlāq
means “good character”, is
etymologically related to al-Khāliq meaning
“the Creator”, and makhlūq “the created”,
which assumes a good relationship between
human beings and God, and a good
relationship between human beings.
Islam Prophet Mohammed summarized the
conduct among the Muslims as he said

– to remain conscious to God, whether in public or private;

– to speak justly, whether angry or pleased;
– to show moderation both when rich and when poor,
– to reunite friendship to those who have broken of me;
– to give to him who refuse me;
– that my silence should be occupied with thought;
– that my looking should be an admonition;
– that command what is right
WHAT IS MORAL?
• Pertaining to character and behavior from
the point of view of right and wrong.
• The judgment we make relating to
societal principles of right and wrong
behavior
FOUNDATION OF MORALITY
• Morality begins with the character of God. There is no other foundation
for it.
• Essentially the true foundation of all morality is loving God and others.
• And the sort of morality that really matters depends on the sort of God
that really exists. No one can love God unless they know Him.
• There is no joy and no peace that can compare with that which comes
from being totally surrendered to the Christ of the Cross.
• When “morality” is used simply to refer to a code of conduct put
forward by any actual group, including a society, whether or not it is
distinguished from etiquette, law, and religion, then it is being used in a
descriptive sense.
WHAT IS VALUES?
• A principle or quality that is intrinsically
desirable.
• These are the priorities that an individual
gives to the elements in his life and career
based on his ethics, morality and integrity.

SIX MORAL VALUES

1. LOVE OF GOD– give God what is due Him and develop

the moral virtue of religion through adoration, prayer and
obedience.
2. RESPECT OF AUTHORITY– treat freedom with a sense
of self- determination and personal responsibility, and as a
social being, exercise intelligently obedience.
3. SELFLESS LOVE OF PEOPLE– respect human life,

with his fellowmen bearing in mind that the material world is
limited (scarce).
6. TRUTHFULNESS– never telling what is not true (untruth)
because it destroys the foundation of social life which is based
on mutual trust.
5 CORE WORK VALUES

for, keeps busy, and strives to work well.
