Oman

Oman is an Arab country

located in Western Asia
sharing a border with
Saudi Arabia. This country
is home to 4.52 million
people where the national
religion is Islam.
Eye Contact
Eye contact is preferred when
having conversations but it would
be best for a man not to make too
much eye contact with an Omani
woman since it is usually
misinterpreted as flirting or
romantic interest in the woman.
When returning eye contact
during a conversation it is seen as
having mutual understanding.
Touching between the same sex
is allowed, but it is inappropriate
Haptics if a man and a woman are
touching in public. You’ll see
men holding hands but this
shows that they have a really
close friendship.
Gestures

Whenever the Omani hand each

other something, they always use
their right hand because their left
hand is considered unclean and
they only clean themselves with
their left. They also see the
thumbs up as we do, that it means
“Good job” or “I approve”
Overall, men don’t stare at women out of respect for
them, those of the opposite sex don’t touch in public,
and their right hand is used most since the left hand
is considered unclean.
