Pakistan resolution

• also known as the Lahore Resolution

• passed on March 23, 1940

• demanded the creation of an independent


Muslim state in the northwestern and
northeastern regions of British India where
Muslims were in a majority

• provided a clear political goal for their


struggle for independence from British
colonial rule

• proposed by Muhammad Ali Jinnah

• seconded by Maulana Zafar Ali Khan

• was supported by thousands of Muslim


League members, who had gathered in
Lahore for the annual meeting.
The quit India movement

• a mass civil disobedience movement

• launched by the Indian National


Congress

• August 8, 1942

• demanded immediate independence


from British colonial rule

• The British government used force to


suppress the movement, resulting in
violent clashes and police brutality

Muhammad ali Jinnah

• First he strongly believed that Hindus


and Muslims should stay united

• later realized the differences; accepted


“Pakistan” as the only solution

• Worked hard to establish Pakistan,


build its government, economy and
security

• A very determined leader; prioritized


Pakistan over his health

• Had tuberculosis, died on 11 Sep 1948,


Allama Muhammad iqbal

• a poet, philosopher, and politician, as well


as an academic, barrister and scholar in
British India

• inspired the Pakistan Movement

• one of the most important figures in Urdu


literature, with literary work in both the
Urdu and Persian languages.

• Was an active politician and worked for


Pakistan

• Could not live long to see his dream come


true; died on 21st April, 1938
Chaudhry rehmat ali

• Pakistani nationalist
• wrote his famous pamphlet, "Now or
Never: Are We to Live or Perish Forever?"
in 1933
• proposed the idea of a separate Muslim
state in India
• credited with coining the name "Pakistan“
• spent much of his life promoting the cause
of Pakistan
• faced significant criticism and opposition,
both in India and Pakistan, for his ideas and
his outspokenness.
• He died on February 3, 1951, in Cambridge,
England.
