IT IS defined as the art of sewing clothes and dresses that we can use every day. Because of them, we can walk outside confidently and comfortably with the clothes they have created. HISTORY OF DRESSMAKING Wearing of Clothes 650,000 years ago our ancestors used primitive clothes. This primitive clothes are made of animal fur and skin as well as barks and leaves of trees. Bark is the outside layer of wood that all trees have. main purpose of wearing clothes: • Protection from rain • Protection from SUN • Protection from WIND • Protecion from COLD NEEDLES AND THREADS 19,000 YEARS AGO, EVIDENCE OF NEEDLES MADE OF BONES AND IVORY NEEDLE THAT ARE MADE OF BONES, HAS A SPLIT HEAD INSTEAD OF AN EYE WHICH GRIPPED THE THREAD IS MADE UP OF : • RAFFIA • GUT • SINEW SILK ROAD Silk Road, this was the series of ancient trade routes between China and other countries in Asia Minor. The trading between them played a significant role in the development of civilization in : • CHINA • INDIA • MESOPOTAMIA • EGYPT • ROME GREEK & ROMANS Greek and Roman In Greece, clothes were made in simple lengths of wool or linen, secured at the shoulders with the sashes used as belts.
