Sentence
Sentence is a set of words that contain a subject, a
verb and give a complete thought.
OR
Sentence is a set of words which has a subject, a
predicate, and which gives a complete thought.
A sentence begins with a capital letter and ends with
a period (.), exclamation mark (!), or question mark
(?).

Predicate
It is a part of sentence talking about the subject.
Predicate is a verb, but sometimes more than just
verb.
Predicate = verb + obj / complement

A sentence may be composed of the following

Sentence Elements
• Subject is the person or thing we are talking
about.
Examples:
She knows all the answers.
The teacher explained everything.
The flower smells sweet.
Sentence Elements
Verb is a word that expresses an action or state.
Examples:
They are at home.
Ali brought me a chair.
Hamed came late today.
She speaks fluently.
Sentence Elements
Object is a word or group or words which receives
the action from the verb.
Examples:
Shewa is treating her patient.
Tamim kicked the ball so hard.
The students are in the class. No object
Sentence Elements
Complement is a word or group of words that
follows a verb and describes the subject of the
verb.
Example:
Mahmood is an engineer.
The weather is cold.
