- MUN presentation

Introduction
• Israel is an important country in the middle east
region consisting of Jerusalem, the holy birthplace of
two religions and surrounded by oil producing
nations. Conflict over this historically important land
is one of the most complex and long-standing
conflicts in the world.
• Achieving peace and security in this region is of
paramount importance, not only for the people living
in Israel and Palestine but for global stability.
• In the next few slides, we will explore the historical
context, ongoing challenges, peace efforts, security
measures, and the achievements in the pursuit of
peace and security in Israel.
• We will also discuss the future outlook and the crucial
role that international support plays in this journey.
Historical Origins

• The Israel-Palestine conflict has its roots in a deeply

intricate and long-standing historical background.
• The origins of this conflict can be traced back to the late
19th and early 20th centuries when Jewish immigration
to Palestine increased, leading to tensions with the Arab
population.
• Key historical events that shaped the conflict include the
Balfour Declaration of 1917, which expressed British
support for a "national home for the Jewish people" in
Palestine ( two nation theory).
• The United Nations' 1947 ( resolution 181) partition plan
proposed the establishment of separate Jewish and Arab
states, which was accepted by Jewish leaders but rejected
by Arab leaders, leading to the first Arab-Israeli war in
1948. 1967’s six day war , 1979 Suez war, 1982 Lebanon
invasions are part of the bitter history.
• Since then, a series of wars, negotiations, and peace
initiatives have defined the ongoing struggle for peace
and security in the region.
