Definition of renewable
energy
It is energy that is generated from natural resources
such as wind, sunlight, rain, tides and geothermal
heat.

photovoltaic
energy
The sun emits a large amount of radiation that is
inexhaustible, non-polluting and can be harnessed easily
to produce electricity and heat. The best way to harness
this energy is through photovoltaic solar panels.
Germany is the country that produces the most solar
energy with 38.2 gigawatts an hour.

Wind
energy
“
This is obtained by harnessing the forced of the wind
and using to produce electricity. It is a non-polluting
energy. The countries who is the biggest wind energy
producer is china with 7,965MW.
Cons:
1. It causes noise and
visual pollution.
2. The production of

Geothermal
energy
This type of energy uses the heats from inside the
earth (to produce electricity) especially in areas with
intense volcanic activity. The country that uses the
most geothermal energy is the U.S. with 3,639MW.
Pros : Cons :

high investment.

Tidal
energy
This uses the movement of seawater
caused by tides, waves and currents.
This type of energy production is not
very common. 20% of china's energy is
made up of tidal energy since 2020.
Pros: Cons:
1. It creates no noise 1. It may affect aquatic
pollution. ecosystems.

Biomass
It is a source of energy produced by organic matter. There are
different types: biomass, biogas & biofuel. Biofuels have also
become a point of contention for conversation groups that argue
that the crops would be put to better use as a source of food rather
than fuel. 75% of Kenya's energy comes from biomass energy.
Pros :
1. Uses waste
reproduction.
2. Reliability.
Cons :
1. High costs.
2. Requires a lot of space.
3. It can cause an
environmental impact like
deforesting.

Reflection
From what i have learnt, I can
say that Renewable energy isn’t
everything it’s made out to be.
Sure it might pollute less than
non-renewable energy, but it has
other significant negative
impacts on the environment.
However, it is a step closer
towards a 100% eco friendly
9 solution.
Almost 28%
Of the earth's energy is renewable.
In 2019 it was 26%
