    • A parking stall means a space for a parking of
    motor car

    • A parking aisle means an access lane or driveway

    Minimum dimensions of
    parking stalls
    • 8 feet width and 16 feet in length when stalls are perpendicular to or
    with angle to the aisles
    • 8 feet width and 18 feet in length when stalls are parallel to the aisles
    Parking stalls with adjacent
    obstructions
    • Where the obstructions (any large element above 7 inch ) located within the
    middle 9 feet of the parking length, the parking stall shall be widened.
    • If the obstruction is on one side, the minimum stall width shall be 9 feet
    • If the obstruction is on both sides, the minimum stall width shall be 10 feet
    • For parallel parking, where a car cannot be parked by reversing, the minimum
    stall length shall be 24 feet where there are obstructions at the stall ends

    Clearway ramps and
    access-ways
    • Clearway ramps are inclined floors that provide access between
    two levels; they do not have parking stalls adjacent to them
    • Access-ways are driveways that provide access to the parking
    stalls
    • Slope of curved ramp shall be that of the center line of its path
    • Continuous spiral ramps shall be limited to 4 stories
    • If the clear ramps and access-ways have physical divider (with
    raised brickwork, concrete blocks ,etc ) ,minimum height of 9
    inches above the driveway level
    • A straight landing of minimum 30 feet in length every after 160
    feet of ramps with gradient
    Minimum
    headroom
    • the clear headroom or height clearance for car parking shall not be less
    than 7’3”.
    • Measured from floor level to the underside of any projections including
    beams, directional signs, sprinkler heads, electrical fittings, etc
    Motor cycle
    parking
    • Motor cycle parking stall can be provided in any available space within
    parking
    • Should not obstruct movement of other vehicles and pedestrians
    • Minimum dimensions of motor-cycle parking stall 3ft x 8ft
    • Provided next to car parking lots, a gap of 1’6” to 3’ be provided between
    the car and motor-cycle lots
    Parking
    ramp
    • A sloping aisles with parking stalls adjacent to them
    • Gradient of parking ramps shall be 1:25(4%)(preferred) and
    1:20(5%)(maximum)
    • For shopping centers, minimum one parking space for 1000 square feet sales floor area.
    LIGHTING

    • Lighting is a key security measure


    • Good lighting enhances user comfort & perception of safety, is a
    business attraction amenity, permits safe movement for
    pedestrians and vehicles
    • Enhances signage visibility and readability
    • Typically, light levels are not code regulated except emergency
    lighting @ 1 footcandles minimum
    • Provide additional lighting (50 fc) for 10’-60’ zone from building
    edge
    • Include daylight infiltration (>15 fc)
    • 10’ x 10’ spacing of 150 watt fixtures
