The survey of over 5,500 social media users across 11 countries found that while most (84%) follow brands on social media, true brand promoters who are extremely likely to recommend brands make up only 19% of respondents. Promoters differ from more passive "sharers" in that they actively and regularly follow brands, interact directly with brands to give feedback, and are more influenced to purchase products mentioned by friends online. Top brands promoters recommend vary by country but include Apple, Samsung, Nike, L'Oreal and Dove, while local telecom and cable providers often made the "unlikely to recommend" list.

Effectiveness is at the heart of everything we do. David Ogilvy himself wrote a series of full-page ads in the New York Times in the 1960s with headlines such as "How To Create Advertising That Sells." His most famous book, Ogilvy on Advertising, is packed with guidance on the success factors of effective campaigns.
However, the marketing landscape has changed beyond recognition in the past fifty years. We are delighted to share our latest publication, The Ogilvy & Mather guide to effectiveness. In it, Worldwide Effectiveness Director, Tim Broadbent, deals with one of the most central questions in marketing: how to increase the effectiveness of our campaigns.
As marketing budgets come under increasing pressure in response to economic uncertainty in Europe and elsewhere, effectiveness is rising higher on clients' agendas. The message is timely.

The document advocates that stories are more effective than facts or logic at generating emotion and persuading people.

OgilvyRED - Dollars and Sense of ConnectivityOgilvy
Mobile connectivity has the potential to provide significant economic and social benefits globally, but its impact depends on factors like infrastructure development and affordability. The mobile connectivity ecosystem involves infrastructure providers (carriers), services/content providers, and consumers. While carriers play a pivotal role by operating networks, the benefits are not evenly distributed. In developed nations, higher bandwidth enables services like video streaming but in developing areas, basic connectivity can improve access to information, resources and opportunities that positively impact areas like health, education and economic growth. Ensuring widespread affordable access remains an ongoing challenge.

Union of Humans: The Future of the Millennial Generation in the Age of Automa...Ogilvy
It’s not always fun or easy to understand an automating, fissuring, hyper-globalizing economy. It’s not always comfortable to consider that decades-old safe and sage advice (“Go to college!”) might become totally obsolete—if we don’t move quickly to curtail the privatization of our primary schools, and/or colleges fail to modernize their offerings.
However with great crisis comes great opportunity, and Millennials are well-equipped to handle the mammoth issues before them. They are, after all, the most educated, most connected generation in American history.
So why the emphasis on…unions? Well, we really need them, and Millennials happen to love them. But the automation era will require its own union, of sorts—what we’re calling a “union of humans.”
7 Lessons from Established Online Video Viewers Ogilvy
This document discusses key findings from a survey of nearly 2,400 established online video viewers about their consumption habits. Some of the main findings include:
- Most respondents expect online streaming to be their sole source of video within a few years and they see traditional TV as becoming obsolete.
- Session viewing, where viewers engage with online videos for extended periods of 30+ minutes multiple times a week, dominates online behavior rather than single video views.
- Session viewing is common across all age groups, not just young viewers. Most viewing sessions occur in the evening prime time hours that compete with television.
- Irrelevant or poorly placed advertising is a major reason viewers abandon viewing sessions, undermining the monetization abilities of

Being underestimated lowers expectations and fuels competitiveness. Belief is a powerful tool when leaders inspire both individual and collective belief through humble confidence.
Day 4 Recap from #CannesLions #OgilvyCannes Ogilvy

Earlier speakers addressed how marketing often fails to reach women with messages of compassion and independence. Finally, the author shares leadership advice from advertising legend Keith Reinhard about having a dream, passion, persistence, and curiosity to succeed both personally and in leading others.

Day 1 Recap from #CannesLions #OgilvyCannes Ogilvy
This document provides a three-part recap of the first day of the 2015 Cannes Lions festival by Jeremy Katz. The first section notes that the opening session consisted mainly of promotional material for The Walking Dead and MediaCom rather than delivering desired content to the audience. The second section discusses the Glass Lion award created to recognize work addressing gender inequality, as the advertising industry still lacks diversity among its creative directors. The third section profiles Tom of Finland, a gay erotic artist who helped mainstream LGBT culture through his work while also serving as a creative director, showing how individuals can influence society through their work outside of advertising.
