Discussion
[edit]Database has some flaws
[edit]http://corporate.olympics.com.au/daniel-carroll is a valid link, while http://corporate.olympics.com.au/athlete/daniel-carroll is not. The URL pattern should therefore include the part athlete/
optionally. —MisterSynergy (talk) 16:53, 22 February 2017 (UTC)
It looks like they have knocked off the numbers from the trailing end of the identifiers. So many should be converted and the Mix'n'Match set should be replaced. --99of9 (talk) 00:19, 10 November 2020 (UTC)
- The identifier used by the Olympics.com.au database has changed more than once. Here is an example for Rolly Tasker (Q4351873):
- URL and ID in 2009: http://corporate.olympics.com.au/athlete/6256/Rolland+Tasker (archived)
- URL and ID in 2011: http://corporate.olympics.com.au/athlete/rolland-tasker (archived)
- URL and ID in 2016: http://corporate.olympics.com.au/athlete/rolly-tasker-12162 (archived)
- URL and ID in 2020: https://www.olympics.com.au/olympians/rolland-tasker/ (archived)
- Removing the numeric portion of the former ID does not always generate the current ID:
- https://www.olympics.com.au/olympians/rolly-tasker/ (404 error)
- https://www.olympics.com.au/olympians/rolland-tasker/ (working link)

- Both links for Daniel Carroll (Q945481) from 2017 (see above) now redirect to the current URL. That is not true of all IDs:
- http://corporate.olympics.com.au/rolland-tasker (404 error)
- http://corporate.olympics.com.au/athlete/rolland-tasker (working redirect)
