- My primary research interests are right-wing authoritarian regimes and the roles religion (particularly Catholicism) and gender play in such regimes. I am particularly interested in the authoritarian dictatorship of Antonio de Oliveira Salazar from 1932-1968 in Portugal. My Major Research Project at York University for the MA was on the Congress on Fatima in Portugal in October of 1951 at the closing of the extended Holy Year. I examined the ways in which the regime used the legacy of the miracles at Fatima to political ends during the Cold War.
I wrote my senior thesis at UC Berkeley under the guidance of Professor John Connelly on the political role of the Roman Catholic Church in Portugal, and in particular the Cardinal-Patriarch Cerejeira, during the Estado Novo.edit - Adrian Shubertedit
