- In Celtic mythology, Ecne (Wisdom, Old Irish ecna, ecne, wise, enlightened) was one of the Tuatha Dé Danann and was the god of wisdom, or knowledge. Ecne had three fathers, Brian, Iuchar, and Iucharba, who were all sons of Brigid and Tuireann, also known as Delbáeth. They are called the tri dee Donand, meaning the three gods of Danu, which can also be read as the three gods of dán, or knowledge. Related attributes are personified as their descendants, and Wisdom is the son of all three. For Ecne to be the son of three brothers also recalls the early Celtic practice of fraternal polyandry. Ecne's three fathers killed Cian, the father of Lugh, and Lugh's deadly revenge is recounted in The Fate of the Children of Tuireann. In Irish Druids and Old Irish Religions, James Bonwick reports Ecne as female and as the goddess of poetry. (en)
- I Miotaseolaíocht na nGael, dia na heagnaíochta agus an eolais ab ea Eagna (Sean-Ghaeilge Ecne) na dTuath Dé Danann. Bhí triúr aithreacha ag Eagna, na deartháireacha , Iuchar, agus Iucharba, mic agus Tuireann. Tá aitheanta orthu triúr mar na Trí Dé Danann, ach is féidir é seo a léamh mar Trí Dé Dána, nó eolais. Seasann airíonna gaolmhara ina sliocht, agus is é Eagna mac an triúir acu, rud a chuireann i gcuimhne sean-nós Ceilteach an pholandrais. Mharaigh a aithreacha Cian, athair Lugh, agus insítear scéal díoltas Lugh in Oidheadh Chlainne Tuireann. In Irish Druids and Old Irish Religions, deir James Bonwick gur bean í Eagna, agus bandia na filíochta. (ga)
Irish Druids and Old Irish Religions에서 제임스 본위크는 에크네를 여성으로 비정하며 시문학의 여신이라고 해석한다. (ko)
