Bu yazıda, Grek felsefi üretiminden, İslam düşüncesine intikal eden imkan kavramının tarihsel süreç içerisinde ortaya çıkışı, gelişimi, farklı disiplinlere evrilerek kazandığı yeni anlamlar ve nihayetinde İbn Sînâ metafiziğinde kazandığı anlamı ortaya koyan "Aristoteles'ten İbn Sînâ'ya İmkân'ın Tarihi" adlı kitabın tanıtım ve tenkidi amaçlanmaktadır. Kitabın geniş literatürdeki çalışmalardan farklı yönü; imkan kavramı üzerine düşünce tarihindeki hemen hemen tüm üretimi, sistematik, kronolojik bir şekilde ve bağlantıları açığa çıkarmak suretiyle işlemesidir. Yazar, Grek felsefesinden ayrı bir kültür olan İslam düşüncesine, imkan kavramının göçünü, göç yolunda bu kavramın farklı kullanımlarını ve konumunu ortaya koymaktadır.

Milattan önce 4. yüzyılda Apollon Tapınağı’nın kapısına kazınan nosce te ipsum (“Kendini bil!”) öğretisi çoğu zaman ahlaki bir buyruk olarak değerlendirilebilmektedir. Ancak felsefe tarihinde kendini/beni bilmek, bilgimizin sınırlarını belirlemesi ve varoluşumuzun anlamını kuşatması bakımından ahlaki bir buyruktan daha fazlasıdır. Epistemoloji ve metafiziğin temel problemleri arasında yer alan ben’in bilgisi ve ontolojik statüsü, günümüz felsefi çalışmalarında zihin felsefesinin meseleleri arasında kendisine yer bulmaktadır. Benlik nedir; bilinç nedir; insan salt maddi bir varlık mıdır yoksa maddi olmayan bir öze de sahip midir gibi sorular, felsefe tarihi boyunca irdelenmiş ve mevcut bilimsel çalışmaların da etkisi ile oldukça popüler bir noktaya gelmiştir. Bugün popüler hale gelen bu konular, İslam filozofları tarafından modern formülasyonları ile olmasa da felsefi problemler olarak ele alınmış meselelerdi. İslam filozoflarının zikredilen bu konulardaki görüşlerini gün yüzüne çıkarmak ve değerlendirmesini yapmak, yeni yapılan felsefi çalışmalara katkı sağlaması ve disiplinler arası etkileşime vesile olması bakımından oldukça önemlidir. Bu kaygı ile çalışmamız “Ebü’l-Berekât el-Bağdâdî ve Meşşâî Felsefe Bağlamında Nefis, Benlik ve Bilgi” isimli esere dair bir değerlendirme sunmayı hedeflemektedir.

Bu yazı, kişisel özdeşlik problemi bağlamında aydınlanma döneminin öncü filozoflarından David Hume'un bundle teorisini ve bu teorinin çağdaş zihin felsefesi tartışmalarına etkisini ortaya koymayı amaçlamaktadır. İlk olarak kişisel özdeşlik problemi hakkında genel bir çerçeve çizilecektir. İkinci olarak kişi, özdeşlik, kendilik, gibi kavramlar üzerinden Hume epistemolojisinde problemin nasıl anlaşıldığı izah edilecektir. Daha sonra Hume epistemolojisinin yol açtığı felsefi etkilerin görülebilmesi için zihin felsefesinin çağdaş tartışmaları, benin varlığı ve bilgisi özelinde, filozofların zihin-beden anlayışları üzerinden örneklenecektir. Benlik, bilinç ve madde ilişkisi özelinde teorileri olan Daniel Dennet, John Searle, David Chalmers ve Thomas Metzinger çağdaş dönem başlığı altında ele alınacak isimlerdir. Son olarak Hume ve teorileri sunulan dört ismin benlik konusundaki pozisyonlarının yol açtığı felsefi sorunlara dair birtakım değerlendirmeler sunulacaktır. D. Hume ile çağdaş zihin felsefecilerinin, benin varlığı ve bilgisi özelindeki benzerliklerini ortaya koymayı amaçlayan bu yazı, değerlendirme ve sonuç bölümü haricinde söz konusu yaklaşımlara dair tanıcı nitelikte bir çalışma ortaya koymayı hedeflemektedir.

The Metaphysics of Goodness has been an issue discussed by many philosophers in terms of the nature of being. The question of whether being and goodness is the same thing or different components that require each other have been a defining key element while building the philosophical positions and systems. Having taking into considerations of the premises of Al-Farabi and his islamic background, the metaphysic attitude of him in terms of goodness and its extensions within the context of God, universe and creation have also been investigated. In the introduction, being in the history of thought, the effect of metaphysics on Al-Farabi over the discussions of change and stability and the metaphysic position of Al-Farabi have been revealed in detail with the contributions of pioneer philosophers. In the second chapter, analyzing the ontological and cosmological system of Al-Farabi, the linguistic, ontologic and metaphysic aspects of the concept of being has been searched. In the third-last chapter, the historical course of the metaphysics of goodness and the nature of the relationship between the concepts of being and goodness have been delivered in accordance with the system of philosopher and premises of him. Besides, the third chapter consists of a series of analysis and the metaphysic extensions of goodness-being relationship. In conclusion, according to Al-Farabi goodness and being are not the same and one thing. He postulates that by deeply criticizing the legacy of Greek metaphysics, the nature of being gets a share from goodness only when accompanied with merit. He thinks that evil is state of being depending on human will and inefficiency.

This article aims to identify the bundle theory and its influence on the philosophy of mind discussions. The theory was put forward by David Hume, one of the pioneer philosophers of the Enlightenment era, in the context of personal identity. Firstly, a general framework will be drawn about the problem of personal identity. Secondly, it will be explained how the problem is understood in Hume’s epistemology through concepts such as person, identity, self, selfhood. To see the philosophical effects caused by Hume's epistemology, discussions of the philosophy of mind will be exemplified in the existence and knowledge of self through the mindbody understandings of philosophers. Daniel Dennet, John Searle, David Chalmers, and Thomas Metzinger, who have theories about the relationship of self, consciousness, and matter, are the names to be considered under the title of philosophy of mind.
