Antibacterial activity of the essential oil from dried flowering aerial parts of Achillea biebersteinii (Van region of Turkey) was assessed against six microorganism using disc diffusion method. Five microorganisms sensitive to Alcillea biebersteinii Afan. were included Salmonella typhimurium ATCC 25241 (8-10 mm), Bacillus subtilis ATCC 6051 (8-10 mm), Pseudomonas aeruginosa ATCC 10145 (10-10 mm), Staphylococcus aureus ATCC 12600 (9-10 mm) and Escherichia coli ATCC 11775 (8-9 mm). Meanwhile, GC/MS analysis of oil releaved twenty-one compounds with the main compounds as camphor (20.77%), 1,8-cineol (18.60%), artemisia ketone (14.69%), camphene (7.80%), α-pinene (5.94%), artemisia alcohol (5.88%), β-phellandrene (4.87%) and chrysanthenone (4.33%), respectively.

In this study, carried out to determine effect of boric acid treatments on essential oil compositions in moldavian balm (Dracocephalum moldavica L.), plants were transplanted to experimental area of Department of Field Crops, Faculty of Agriculture of Ankara University with four replicates after rooting. Boric acid concentrations (0, 3, 6 ve 9 kg ha-1 ) were applied as aqueous foliar spray at before flowering stage and plants were harvested at full flowering stage The essential oils were isolated by hydro-distillation using clevenger-type apparatus and analyzed by GC/MS. According to results, 14 components were determined in herbs of Dracocephalum moldavica and linalol, z-citral, geraniol, citral, nerol and geranyl acetate were major components. The chemical composition of essential oil did not change due to the boric acid level; rather the percentages of main constituents were affected, slightly. While, the highest level of geranyl acetate (43.6%) was obtained at 6 kg ha-1. both citral (27.6%) and z-citral (20.2%) the highest percentage was documented at 9 kg ha-1. Other minor components showed different concentrations depending on level of fertilizer used.

The objective of present study was to compare essential oil components of Salvia forskahlei
L. collected from nature and cultivated. Experiment materials were collected from Zonguldak province (in
Turkey) and cultivated in Faculty of Agriculture of Ankara University. Essential oil components were analyzed
by GC-MS. According to results, there were significant differences in terms of essential oil content and components
of Salvia forskahlei. The essential oil content varied from 0.01 to 0.10 %. The essential oil components
varied depending on climatic and geographic factors. Thirteen components in Salvia forskahlei were determined
in nature and germacrene D and β-caryophyllene were the main components of essential oil, representing
19.4 % and 23.6 %, respectively. Germacrene D (29.2 %), α-cadinol (21.2 %) and δ-cadinene (20.5 %)
were the major components at first, second and third cutting of 2008, respectively.
