This work examines a symmetry-protected bound state in the continuum (BIC) supported unique all-dielectric dome-shaped metasurface (MS). The simple unit MS is made up of four dome-shaped nanobars of silicon in the top layer and silica glass as the substrate. Two strong transmission dips denoted as an electric dipole (ED) and magnetic dipole (MD) quasi-BIC with a high Q-factor that surpasses the value of 104 are observed after the symmetry between the nanobars is broken by a small angle from their initial position. A crossover between the ED and MD resonances is noticed when the periodicity of the MS is changed in the y direction. In addition, transmission spectra show the avoided-crossing phenomenon of dipole quasi-BIC resonances when the superstrate's refractive index (RI) is reduced from its initial value. Other widely used dielectric materials are additionally employed in dome-shaped nanobars to evaluate their performances in terms of sharpness and near-zero transmission. Moreover, Other forms of symmetry breakdown such as diagonal width and length asymmetry have been investigated for their impact on the Q-factor. Finally, we have demonstrated two significant applications, including refractometric glucose sensing and third harmonic generation (THG). Our dome-shaped MS is roughly 300 times more efficient at generating third harmonics than a flat rectangular silicon film MS. Our proposed BIC and q-BIC-facilitated MS may provide a method for enhancing the functionality of biological sensors, multimodal lasing, optical switches, and nonlinear optics.

Two structures of circular lattice Photonic Crystal Fibers (PCFs) based on $Ge_{20}Sb_{15}Se_{65}$ (GSS) material have been proposed for a highly coherent broadband supercontinuum generation (SCG) in the mid-infrared region. Numerical studies on both structures show that the fundamental modes are well confined in the core while the confinement losses are very low. Also, the high nonlinear coefficient of 22.01 $W^{-1}m^{-1}$ and 17.99202 $W^{-1}m^{-1}$ for the two structures ensure that these structures can accomplish a high nonlinear activity. It has been found that broadband supercontinuum (SCs) spanning from 0.45 $μ$m to 5.3 $μ$m and 0.48 $μ$m to 6.5 $μ$m can be generated using a hyperbolic secant pulse of 0.5 kW. The proposed structures also show very good structural tolerance to optical properties that prevent any radical shift in SC spectra owing to potential fabrication mismatch.

We propose a novel approach to enhance the performance of perovskite solar cells (PSCs) by incorporating grated Cadmium Sulfide (CdS) and plasmonic gold nanoparticles (Au NPs) into the absorber layer. The CdS grating acts as the electron transport layer and penetrates into the perovskite absorber layer, increasing the absorption of the active layer and reducing the electron-hole recombination rate. The plasmonic Au NPs enhance the absorption in the infrared region by scattering and trapping the incident light. We perform a coupled optical and electrical study that shows a significant improvement in the short circuit current density (JSC) and power conversion efficiency (PCE) of the PSC after introducing the CdS grating and plasmonic Au NPs. Specifically, we observe a 48% increase in average optical absorption from 800 nm to 1400 nm and a 7.42 mA/cm^2 increase in JSC. We also find that the PCE of the PSC is increased by 7.91% when comparing the planar reference structure (without the CdS grating and the plasmonic Au NP). However, metal nanoparticles introduce ohmic losses and temperature rise in the solar cell. We analyze the non-radiative heat profile, electric field distribution, and temperature distribution across the PSC. We observe a temperature increase of approximately 14 K above the ambient temperature for the grated CdS layer with incorporated Au NPs, which is comparable to the temperature increase observed in the planar reference structure. Our results have the potential to pave the way for the development of highly efficient and stable PSCs in the future.

We designed ordered and disordered silicon (Si) nanowire structures and analyzed their optical performance using the finite-difference time-domain (FDTD) technique. We studied the orderness of nanowire structures by calculating scalar variance. This study reveals that utilizing disorder structures can increase the average absorbance of Si nanowire structures. Spatial electric field distributions provided insights into light-matter interaction, indicating that disorder structures had higher path lengths compared to the periodic structure. We achieved an average absorbance of 41.46% for the hyperuniform Si nanowire structure with a maximum absorbance of 78.18%. Intuitively, we obtained ~70% high absorbance compared to periodic Si nanowire structure. Our findings will be conducive to designing new efficient solar cells and photodetectors.

Our analysis shows that the target side of chart summarization training datasets often contains additional information, leading to hallucinations. We propose a natural language inference (NLI) based method to preprocess the training data and show through human evaluation that our method significantly reduces hallucinations. We also found that shortening long-distance dependencies in the input sequence and adding chart-related information like title and legends improves the overall performance.

A Duistermaat-Guillemin-Gutzwiller trace formula for Dirac-type operators on a globally hyperbolic spatially compact stationary spacetime is achieved by generalising the recent construction by Strohmaier and Zelditch [Adv. Math. \textbf{376}, 107434 (2021)] to a vector bundle setting. We have analysed the spectrum of the Lie derivative with respect to a global timelike Killing vector field on the solution space of the Dirac equation and found that it consists of discrete real eigenvalues. The distributional trace of the time evolution operator has singularities at the periods of induced Killing flow on the manifold of lightlike geodesics. This gives rise to the Weyl law asymptotic at the vanishing period. A pivotal technical ingredient to prove these results is the Feynman propagator. In order to obtain a Fourier integral description of this propagator, we have generalised the classic work of Duistermaat and Hörmander [Acta Math. \textbf{128}, 183 (1972)] on distinguished parametrices for normally hyperbolic operators on a globally hyperbolic spacetime by propounding their microlocalisation theorem to a bundle setting. As a by-product of these analyses, another proof of the existence of Hadamard bisolutions for a normally hyperbolic operator (resp. Dirac-type operator) is reported.

We propose cost-effective production of medium grain (MG) niobium (Nb) discs directly sliced from forged and annealed billet. This production method provides clean surface conditions and reliable mechanical characteristics with sub-millimeter average grain size resulting in stable SRF cavity production. We propose to apply this material to particle accelerator applications in the science and industrial frontiers. The science applications require high field gradients (>~40 MV/m) particularly in pulse mode. The industrial applications require high Q0 values with moderate gradients (~30 MV/m) in CW mode operation. This report describes the MG Nb disc production recently demonstrated and discusses future prospects for application in advanced particle accelerators in the science and industrial frontiers.

This article gives global microlocalisation constructions for normally hyperbolic operators on a vector bundle over a globally hyperbolic spacetime in geometric terms. As an application, this is used to generalise the Duistermaat-Hörmander construction of Feynman propagators, therefore incorporating the most important non-scalar geometric operators. It is shown that for normally hyperbolic operators that are selfadjoint with respect to a hermitian bundle metric, the Feynman propagators can be constructed to satisfy a positivity property that reflects the existence of Hadamard states in quantum field theory on curved spacetimes. We also give a more direct construction of the Feynman propagators for Dirac-type operators on a globally hyperbolic spacetime. Even though the natural bundle metric on spinors is not positive-definite, in this case, we can give a direct microlocal construction of a Feynman propagator that satisfies positivity.

We give an upper bound of the relative entanglement entropy of the ground state of a massive Dirac-Majorana field across two widely separated regions $A$ and $B$ in a static slice of an ultrastatic Lorentzian spacetime. Our bound decays exponentially in $dist (A, B)$, at a rate set by the Compton wavelength and the spatial scalar curvature. The physical interpretation our result is that, on a manifold with positive spatial scalar curvature, one cannot use the entanglement of the vacuum state to teleport one classical bit from $A$ to $B$ if their distance is of the order of the maximum of the curvature radius and the Compton wave length or greater.

Domain growths dynamics with respect to space and time, variation of domain velocity and the field outside the vicinity of the domain with respect to domain field have also been studied using the presented mathematical equations. It has been found that, InN-based Gunn diodes are capable to operate around 224 GHz with 691 kA/cm2 current density at 300 K. For comparison purpose, all these characteristics have been evaluated for Gunn diodes of different active lengths based on wurtzite phase Gallium Nitride (GaN).
