An initial theoretical attempt to explain the observed decrease of the polytropic/adiabatic index $γ$ in the solar corona has been accomplished. The chemical reactions of the ionization-recombination processes in local thermodynamic equilibrium (LTE) of a solar plasma cocktail containing heavy elements are found to cause $1.1 < γ\leq 5/3$ in the quiet solar atmosphere. It is also shown that the quiet solar atmosphere is in LTE justifying this theoretical study. This result is obtained by numerically solving the Saha equation and subsequently using a newly derived equation for calculation of the polytropic index from thermodynamic partial derivatives of the enthalpy and pressure with respect to density and temperature. In addition, a comparison between calculated in this way polytropic index and measured from spectroscopic observations of propagating slow magneto-hydrodynamics (MHD) waves in coronal loops shows that LTE ionization accounts for very small part of the observed decrease of $γ$ meaning that the solar plasma in the active region is not in LTE as expected. However, the observed dependency of higher polytropic index at higher temperatures is confirmed by the current theoretical approach. It is concluded that to account for the polytropic index decrease in the active regions of the solar corona, it is necessary kinetic non-LTE ionization calculations to be performed.

The well-known Pavarini et al. [Phys. Rev. Lett. 87, 047003 (2001)] correlation between the critical temperature $T_c$, max and the shape of the Fermi contour of the optimally hole-doped cuprates are explained within the framework of the BCS theory with Kondo exchange interaction incorporated as a pairing mechanism. The strong influence of the relative position of the Cu4$s$ level with respect to the Cu3$d_{x^2-y^2}$ level on the critical temperature $T_c$ reveals why the $s$-$d$ hybridization of the conduction band is so important. This hybridization is proportional to the $s$-$d$ exchange scattering amplitude between the conduction electrons -- the mechanism of d-wave pairing in the CuO$_2$ plane. In other words the Kondo interaction considered as a pairing mechanism in the CuO$_2$ plane gives a natural explanation of the correlation between the critical temperature and the shape of the Fermi contour. The lack of an alternative explanation for the description of the critical temperature of optimally doped cuprates for several decades gives a hint that the long sought pairing mechanism has already been found.

We analyze the conditions for observation of zero sound in layered perovskites with transition metal ion on chalcogenide oxidizer. We conclude that propagation of zero sound is possible only for anti-ferromagnetic sign of the $s$-$d$ interaction. If the $s$-$d$ exchange integral $J_{sd}$ has antiferromagnetic sign, as it is perhaps in the case for layered cuprates, zero sound is a thermally activated dissipation mode, which generates only "hot spots" in the Angle Resolved Photoemission Spectroscopy (ARPES) data along the Fermi contour. We predict that zero sound will be observable for transition metal perovskites with 4$s$ and 3$d$ levels close to the $p$-level of the chalcogenide. The simultaneous lack of superconductivity, the appearance of hot spots in ARPES data, and the proximity of the three named levels, represents the significant hint for the choice of material to be investigated.

We perform a thorough theoretical study of the electron properties of a generic CuO$_2$ plane in the framework of Shubin-Kondo-Zener $s$-$d$ exchange interaction that simultaneously describes the correlation between $T_c$ and the Cu4$s$ energy. To this end, we apply the Pokrovsky theory [J. Exp. Theor. Phys. 13, 447-450 (1961)] for anisotropic gap BCS superconductors. It takes into account the thermodynamic fluctuations of the electric field in the dielectric direction perpendicular to the conducting layers. We microscopically derive a multiplicatively separable kernel able to describe the scattering rate in the momentum space, as well as the superconducting gap anisotropy within the BCS theory. These findings may be traced back to the fact that both the Fermi liquid and the BCS reductions lead to one and the same reduced Hamiltonian involving a separable interaction, such that a strong electron scattering corresponds to a strong superconducting gap and vice versa. Moreover, the superconducting gap and the scattering rate vanish simultaneously along the diagonals of the Brillouin zone. We would like to stress that our theoretical study reproduces the phenomenological analysis of other authors aiming at describing Angle Resolved Photoemission Spectroscopy measurements. Within standard approximations one and the same $s$-$d$ exchange Hamiltonian describes gap anisotropy of the superconducting phase and the anisotropy of scattering rate of charge carriers in the normal phase.

Necessary electronic components and technical guidelines for the construction of this noise thermometer are given. The operating temperature used is in the tea cup range from ice to boiling water and in this sense the set-up can be given in the hands of every high school and university physics student. The measurement requires a standard multi-meter with thermocouple and voltage probe and gives excellent for education purposes percent accuracy. The explanation is oriented to university level but due to the simplicity of the explanation motivated high-school students can follow the explanation derivation of the used formulas for determination of the absolute zero and the Boltzmann constant. As a by-product our set-up gives a new method for the determination of the spectral density of the voltage $e_\mathrm{N}$ and current noise $i_\mathrm{N}$ of operational amplifiers.

The anisotropy of the electron scattering rate and lifetime $Γ_\mathbf{p}=1/τ_\mathbf{p}$ observed by Angle Resolved Photoemission Spectroscopy (ARPES) is evaluated using $s$-$d$ Kondo-Zener exchange Hamiltonian used previously to describe superconducting properties of high-$T_c$ cuprates; for correlation between critical temperature $T_c$ and BCS coupling constant, for example. The performed qualitative analysis reveals that "cold spots" correspond to nodal regions of the superconducting phase where the superconducting gap is zero, because the exchange interaction is annulled. Vice versa, "hot spots" and intensive scattering in the normal state correspond to the regions with maximal gap in the superconducting phase. We have obtained that separable kernel postulated in the Fermi liquid approach to the normal phase is the same kernel which is exactly calculated in the framework of the $s$-$d$ approach in the Linear Combination of Atomic Orbital (LCAO) approximation for CuO$_2$ plane. In this sense, at least on the qualitative level, the superconducting cuprates are described by one and the same Hamiltonian applied to their superconducting and normal properties. For the overdopedcuprates having conventional Fermi liquid behavior we derived the corresponding Stoss-integral for the $s$-$d$ interaction in the framework of LCAO approximation which is the central result of the present study. Repeating the thermodynamics we observed that for optimally doped cuprates $2Δ_\mathrm{max}/T_c$ is in good agreement with Pokrovsky theory for anisotropic gap superconductors.

A tunable high-Q resonator is performed in the schematics of the the General Impedance Converter (GIC). In the framework of frequency dependent open-loop gain of operational amplifiers, a general formula of the frequency dependence of the impedance of GIC is derived. The explicit formulas for the resonance frequency and Q-factor include as immanent parameter the crossover frequency of the operational amplifier. Voltage measurements of GIC with a lock-in amplifier perfectly agree with the derived formulas. A table reveals that electrometer operational amplifiers are the best choice to build the described resonator.

The work of the device is based on the Manhattan equation of operational amplifier. After a final nonspecific amplification the total amplification can exceed 10$^9$ and in such a way sub-nano-volt signals can be reliably detected. A new mechanisms for damping of slow magnetosonic waves (SMW) by pressure induced oscillations of the ionization degree is proposed. An explicit formula for the damping rate is quantitatively derived. Physical conditions where the new mechanism will dominate are briefly discussed. The ionization-recombination damping is frequency independent and has no hydrodynamic interpretation. Roughly speaking large area of partially ionized plasma are damper for basses of SMW while usual MHD mechanisms operate as a low pass filter. The derived damping rate is proportional to the square of the sine between the constant magnetic field and the wave-vector. Angular distribution of the spectral density of SMW and Alfvén waves (AW) created by turbulent regions and passing through large regions of partially ionized plasma is qualitatively considered. The calculated damping rate is expressed by the electron impact cross section of the hydrogen atom and in short all details of the proposed damping mechanisms are well studied.

The temperature dependence of rates of electron impact ionization and two electrons recombination are calculated using Wannier cross section of electron impact ionization of neutral hydrogen atom. Entropy production and power dissipation are derived for the case when the ionization degree deviates from its equilibrium value. This is the special case of the obtained general formula for entropy production accompanying chemical reactions. Damping rate of the sound waves is calculated and the conditions when ionization processes dominate are considered. A quasi-classical approximation for the heating mechanism of solar chromosphere is proposed. Several analogous phenomena for damping rates in liquids and crystals are shortly discussed, for example, deaf sound of a glass of beer or English salt solution. An explicit expression for the second or bulk (or volume) viscosity of hydrogen plasma is calculated from firsts principles. For the first time some second viscosity is calculated from first principles.

We predict a new effect in condensed matter surface magnetization of the vortex phase of a superconductor induced by electric field. The magnetized superconductor should be one of the plates of a plane capacitor on which a voltage has to be applied. Applying alternating voltage to the capacitor, electrostatic induction leads to oscillations of the magnetic moment which has to be measured by electromotive force inducted in a detector coil. The derived explicit formula for the magnetization contains the effective mass of Cooper pairs and a systematic investigation of the predicted magnetization will lead to a creation of an effective Cooper pair mass spectroscopy. Russell, "Analysis of Problems in Dynamics by Electronic Circuits", Proc. of the I.R.E., Vol. 35, pp. 444--452, (1947)] is recovered as necessary tool for the analysis of contemporary circuits with operational amplifiers. This equation gives the relation between time dependent the output voltage $U_0(t)$ and the difference between the input voltages ($U_{+}(t)$ and $U_{-}(t)$). The crossover frequency $f_0$ is represented the time constant $τ_{_0}$ of this equation. The work of the master equation is illustrated by two typical examples: a) the stability criterion of the devices with negative impedance converters, which we consider as a new result b) the frequency dependence of the amplifiers with operational amplifiers given in the technical specifications without citations of time dependent equation. A simple circuit for determination of $f_0$ is suggested and the method is illustrated by determination of crossover frequency for the low-noise and high speed ADA4898 operational amplifier. It is concluded that for an exact calculation of the pass bandwidth of amplifiers with active filters the 70 years old master equation is a useful technique implicitly included in the contemporary software. Explicit analytical expressions for conductivity of a superconducting film above and below critical temperature in an arbitrary electric field are derived in the frameworks of the time dependent Ginzburg-Landau theory. It is confirmed that slightly below critical temperature the differential conductivity of superconducting film can become negative for small enough values of electric field. This fact may cause generation of electromagnetic oscillations if the superconducting film is appropriately coupled of with a resonator. Their maximal frequency is proportional to the value of critical temperature of superconducting transition. The obtained results can stimulate the development of Terahertz generators on the basis of high temperature superconducting films.

The performed numerical analysis reveals that Wynn's identity for the compass $1/(N-C)+1/(S-C)=1/(W-C)+1/(E-C)=1/η$ (here C stands for center, the other letters correspond to the four directions of the compass) gives the long sought criterion, the minimal $|η|$, for the choice of the optimal Padé approximant. The work of this method is illustrated by calculation of multipoint Padé approximation by a new formula for calculation of this best rational approximation. The work of the criterion for the calculation of optimal Padé approximant is illustrated by the frequently seen in the theoretical physics problems of calculation of series summation and multipoint Padé approximation used as a predictor for solution of differential equations motivated by the magneto-hydrodynamic problem of heating of solar corona by Alvén waves. In such a way, an efficient and valuable control mechanism for $N$-point Padé approximant calculation is proposed. We believe that the suggested method and criterion can be useful for many applied problems in numerous areas not only in physics but in any scientific application where differential equations are solved. The solution of the Cauchy-Jacobi problem is illustrated by a Fortran program. The algorithm is generalized for the case of the first $K$ derivatives at $N$ nodal points.

We use the formerly derived explicit analytical expressions for the conductivity of nanostructured superconductors supercooled below the critical temperature in electric field. Computer simulations reveal that the negative differential conductivity region of the current-voltage characteristic leads to excitation of electric oscillations. We simulate a circuit with distributed elements as a first step to obtain gigahertz oscillations. This gives a hint that a hybrid device of nanostructured superconductors will work in terahertz frequencies. If the projected setup is successful, we consider the possibility for it to be put in a nanosatellite (such as a CubeSat). A study of high temperature superconductor layers in space vacuum and radiation would be an important technological task. The interface thermal boundary resistance is taken into account in the numerical illustrations for the work of the device.

For the first time the cumulative distribution function of the crossover frequency of a contemporary operational amplifier ADA4898-2 is experimentally studied. Using a USB Lock-In amplifier, which allows automatic frequency sweep of the current response of a non-inverting amplifier with significant static amplification, we measure the crossover frequency of 200 samples of ADA4898-2 operational amplifiers. This new method gives a significant advantage in accuracy and speed of study of every operational amplifier. The theory we use is based on the universal relation between time dependent output and input voltages. This common relation for all operational amplifiers is applicable for frequencies much smaller than the crossover frequency and the frequencies of non-dominant poles. In other words, this approximation is adequate, when an operational amplifier is included in a circuit with significant amplification.

Several consecutive experiments with specifically built set-up are described. Performing of the consecutive experimental tasks enables possibility to determine Boltzmann's constant $k_\mathrm{_B}$. The fluctuations of the voltage $U(t)$ of series of capacitors connected in parallel with a constant resistance are measured. The voltage is amplified 1~million times $Y=10^6$. The amplified voltage $YU(t)$ is applied to a device, which give the voltage mean quared in time $U_2=\left<(Y U(t))^2\right>/U_0$. This voltage $U_2$ is measured with a multimeter. A series of measurements gives the possibility to determine the Boltzmann's constant from the equipartition theorem $C\left<U^2 \right>=k_\mathrm{_B}T$. In order to determine the set-up constant $U_0$ a series of problems connected with Ohm's law are given that are addressed to the senior students. For the junior high school students, the basic problem is to analyse the analog mean squaring. The students works are graded in four age groups S, M, L, XL. Several consecutive experiments are described with a printed circuit board PCB set-up, especially designed for these experiments. Doing the consecutive experimental tasks opens up possibility to determine the value of electron charge $q_e.$ The fluctuations of the voltage $U(t)$ should be measured for different illuminations of a photodiode. The voltage is amplified 1 million times $Y=10^6$. The amplified voltage $YU(t)$ is applied to the device, which gives the result of the value of the time averaged square of the voltage $U_\mathrm{S}=\left<(Y U(t))^2\right>/U_0$. This voltage $U_\mathrm{S}$ is measured with a multimeter. The series of measurements gives the possibility to determine the $q_e$ using the well known Schottky formula for the spectral density of the current noise $(I^2)_f=2q_e\left<I\right>.$ For the junior high school students, the basic problem is to analyze the analog squaring. In the long wave-length limit the usual dispersion relation is re-derived while for wavelengths comparable to the healing length we predict significant deviations from the $ω\propto k^{3/2}$ law which can be experimentally observed. We approximate the wave variables by a frozen order parameter, i.e. the wave function is frozen in the superfluid analogous to the magnetic field in highly conductive space plasmas.

Static distributions of temperature and wind velocity at the transition region are calculated within the framework of magnetohydrodynamics (MHD) of completely ionized hydrogen plasma. The numerical solution of the derived equations gives the width of the transition layer between the chromosphere and the corona as a self-induced opacity of high-frequency Alfven waves (AW). The domain wall is direct consequence of the self-consistent MHD treatment of AW propagation. The low-frequency MHD waves coming from the Sun are strongly reflected by the narrow transition layer, while the high-frequency waves are absorbed - that is why we predict considerable spectral density of the AW in the photosphere. The numerical method allows consideration of incoming AW with arbitrary spectral density. The idea that Alfven waves might heat the solar corona belongs to Alfven, we simply solved the corresponding MHD equations. The comparison of the solution to the experiment is crucial for revealing the heating mechanism.

Propagation of three dimensional magnetosonic waves is considered for a homogeneous shear flow of an incompressible fluid. The analytical solutions for all magnetohydrodynamic variables are presented by confluent Heun functions. The problem is reduced to finding a solution of an effective Schroedinger equation. The amplification of slow magnetosonic waves is analyzed in great details. A simple formula for the amplification coefficient is derived. The velocity shear primarily affects the incompressible limit of slow magnetosonic waves. The amplification is very strong for slow magnetosonic waves in the long-wavelength limit. It is demonstrated that the amplification of those waves leads to amplification of turbulence. The phenomenology of Shakura-Sunyaev for the friction in accretion disks is derived in the framework of the Kolmogorov turbulence. The presented findings may be the key to explaining the anomalous plasma heating responsible for the luminosity of quasars. It is suggested that wave amplification is the keystone of the self-sustained turbulence in accretion disks.

We are suggesting an electronic method for Cooper pair mass spectroscopy of thin superconducting films. The method can be applied, for example, for 100 nm thin high-T_c films grown on insulator substrate 10 mm X 10 mm. In Corbino geometry two Ohmic contacts have to be made on the film evaporating Ag or using silver paste: one circle with radius r_a (1) and a ring electrode with internal radius r_b (2). In the in-between space (r_a,r_b) a ring electrode from mylar assures a capacitive connection between the superconducting layer and the metallized surface (3) of the mylar. In such a way we have an field effect transistor (FET) type structure with a circular gate. When at low enough temperatures T << T_c an AC current with frequency omega is applied between the circle source (1) and the ring-shaped drain (2) an AC Bernoulli voltage with double frequency 2f appears between the gate (3) and the source (1). The 2f signal depends on Cooper pair effective mass and its systematic investigation gives a Cooper pair mass spectroscopy. In the normal phase 2f gives logarithmic derivative of the density of states (DOS) with respect of Fermi energy. Applying a gate voltage in the same structure gives the mobility of the normal phase.

It is shown that PNR can resolve the difference between the reflected neutron spin asymmetries predicted by the local and nonlocal theories of superconductivity. The experimental data support the nonlocal theory, which predicts a nonmonotonic decay of the magnetic field.

Absorbtion of Alfven waves is considered to be the main mechanism of heating in the solar corona. It is concluded that the sharp increase of the plasma temperature by two orders of magnitude is related to a self-induced opacity with respect to Alfven waves. The maximal frequency for propagation of Alfven waves is determined by the strongly temperature dependent kinematic viscosity. In such a way the temperature jump is due to absorption of high frequency Alfven waves in a narrow layer above the solar surface. It is calculated that the power per unit area dissipated in this layer due to damping of Alfven waves blows up the plasma and gives birth to the solar wind. A model short wave-length (WKB) evaluation takes into account the 1/f^2 frequency dependance of the transversal magnetic field and velocity spectral densities. Such spectral densities agree with old magnetometric data taken by Voyager 1 and recent theoretical calculations in the framework of Langevin-Burgers MHD. The present theory predicts existence of intensive high frequency MHD Alfven waves in the cold layer beneath the corona. It is briefly discussed how this statement can be checked experimentally. It is demonstrated that the magnitude of the Alfven waves generating random noise and the solar wind velocity can be expressed only in terms of satellite experimental data. It is advocated that investigation of properties of the solar surface as a random driver by optical methods is an important task for future solar physics. Jets of accretion disks are speculated as a special case of the wind from magnetized turbulent plasma.

The heating of magnetized plasma by propagation of Alfven waves is calculated as a function of the magnetic field spectral density. The results can be applied to evaluate the heating power of the solar corona at known data from satellites' magnetometers. This heating rate can be incorporated in global models for heating of the solar corona and creation of the solar wind. The final formula for the heating power is illustrated with a model spectral density of the magnetic field obtained by analysis of the Voyager 1 mission results. The influence of high frequency dissipative modes is also taken into account and it is concluded that for evaluation of the total coronal heating it is necessary to know the spectral density of the fluctuating component of the magnetic field up to the frequency of electron-proton collisions.

Heating of magnetized turbulent plasma is calculated in the framework of Burgers turbulence [A.M. Polyakov, Phys. Rev. E. 52, 6183 (1995)]. Explicit formula for the energy flux of Alfven waves along the magnetic field is presented. The Alfven waves are considered as intermediary between the turbulent energy and the heat. The derived results are related to a wave channel of heating of the solar corona. If we incorporate amplification of Alfven waves by shear flow the suggested model of heating can be applied to analysis of the missing viscosity of accretion discs and to reveal why the quasars are the most powerful sources of light in the universe. We suppose that the Langevin-Burgers approach to turbulence we have applied in the current work can be also helpful for other systems where we have intensive interaction between a stochastic turbulent system and waves and can be used in many multidisciplinary researches in hydrodynamics and MHD.

The differential conductivity for the out-of-plane transport in layered cuprates is calculated for Lawrence-Doniach model in the framework of time-dependent Ginzburg-Landau (TDGL) theory. The TDGL equation for the superconducting order parameter is solved in the presence of Langevin external noise, describing the birth of fluctuation Cooper pairs. The TDGL correlator of the superconducting order parameter is calculated in momentum representation and it is shown that the so defined number of particles obeys the Boltzmann equation. The fluctuation conductivity is given by an integral over the Josephson phase θof the particles distribution, depending on that phase, n(θ) and their velocity v(θ). It is demonstrated that in case of overcooling under T_c the transition from normal to superconducting phase while reducing the external electric field runs via annulation of the differential conductivity. The presented results can be used for analysis and experimental data processing of measurements of differential conductivity and fluctuation current in strong electric and magnetic fields. The possible usage of a negative differential conductivity (NDC) for generation of THz oscillations is shortly discussed.

The set of equations for magnetohydrodynamic (MHD) waves in a shear flow is consecutively derived. The proposed scenario involves the presence of a self-sustained turbulence and magnetic field. In the framework of Langevin--Burgers approach the influence of the turbulence is described by an additional external random force in the MHD system. Kinetic equation for the spectral density of the slow magnetosonic (Alfvenic) mode is derived in the short wavelength (WKB) approximation. The results show a pressing need for conduction of numerical Monte Carlo (MC) simulations with a random driver to take into account the influence of the long wavelength modes and to give a more precise analytical assessment of the short ones. Realistic MC calculations for the heating rate and shear stress tensor should give an answer to the perplexing problem for the missing viscosity in accretion disks and reveal why the quasars are the most powerful sources of light in the universe. The planned MC calculations can be incorporated in global models for accretion disks and also in all other physical conditions where there is a shear flow in a magnetized turbulent plasma. It is supposed that the heating mechanism by Alfven waves absorption is common for many kinds of space plasmas from solar corona to active galactic nuclei and the solution of these longstanding puzzles deserves active interdisciplinary research. The work is illustrated by numerical calculations and by exact solutions for the time dependence of the magnetic field given by the Heun function.
