Complete next-to-leading-order corrections to J/psi photoproduction in nonrelativistic quantum chromodynamics
Abstract: We calculate the cross section of inclusive direct J/psi photoproduction at next-to-leading order within the factorization formalism of nonrelativistic quantum chromodynamics, for the first time including the full relativistic corrections due to the intermediate ^1S_0^[8], ^3S_1^[8], and ^3P_J^[8] color-octet states. A comparison of our results to recent H1 data suggests that the color octet mec… ▽ More

Inclusive production of heavy-flavored hadrons at NLO in the GM-VFNS
Abstract: We summarize recent progress in the theoretical description of heavy-flavored-hadron inclusive production at next-to-leading order in the general-mass variable-flavor-number scheme. Specifically, we discuss the influence of finite-mass effects on the determination D-meson fragmentation functions from a global fit to e^+e^- annihilation data and on the transverse-momentum distribution of B-meson… ▽ More

Heavy-quark contributions to the ratio F_L/F_2 at low x
Abstract: We study the heavy-quark contribution to the proton structure functions F_2^i(x,Q^2) and F_L^i(x,Q^2), with i=c,b, for small values of Bjorken's x variable at next-to-lading order and provide compact formulas for their ratios R_i=F_L^i/F_2^i that are useful to extract F_2^i(x,Q^2) from measurements of the doubly differential cross section of inclusive deep-inelastic scattering at DESY HERA. Electroweak corrections to W-boson hadroproduction at finite transverse momentum
Abstract: We calculate the full one-loop electroweak radiative corrections to the cross section of single W-boson inclusive hadroproduction at finite transverse momentum (p_T). This includes the O(alpha) corrections to W+j production, the O(alpha_s) corrections to W+gamma production, and the tree-level contribution from W+j photoproduction with one direct or resolved photon in the initial state. Prompt J/psi plus photon associated electroproduction at DESY HERA
Abstract: We study the production of a prompt J/psi meson in association with a prompt photon in ep deep-inelastic scattering within the factorisation formalism of non-relativistic quantum chromodynamics (NRQCD) and demonstrate that this process provides a clean probe of the colour-octet mechanism at DESY HERA. Our analysis is based on an updated set of non-perturbative NRQCD matrix elements obtained thro… ▽ More

Single top production at HERA in the Standard Model and its minimal supersymmetric extension
Abstract: The H1 Collaboration at the DESY electron-proton collider HERA has observed, in photoproduction and neutral-current deep-inelastic scattering, an unexpected excess of events with isolated leptons and missing transverse momentum, especially at large values of hadronic transverse momentum - a signature typical for single top-quark production. This observation is being substantiated in the HERA II… ▽ More

Reconciling open charm production at the Fermilab Tevatron with QCD

D^0, D^+, D_s^+, and Lambda_c^+ Fragmentation Functions from CERN LEP1
Abstract: We present new sets of nonperturbative fragmentation functions for D^0, D^+, and D_s^+ mesons as well as for Lambda_c^+ baryons, both at leading and next-to-leading order in the MSbar factorization scheme with five massless quark flavors. They are determined by fitting data of e^+e^- annihilation taken by the OPAL Collaboration at CERN LEP1. We take the charm-quark fragmentation function to be o… ▽ More

Inclusive Production of Single Hadrons with Finite Transverse Momenta in Deep-Inelastic Scattering at Next-to-Leading Order
Abstract: We calculate the cross section for the inclusive production of single hadrons with finite transverse momenta in deep-inelastic scattering at next-to-leading order (NLO), i.e. through O(alpha_s^2), in the parton model of QCD endowed with non-perturbative parton distribution functions (PDFs) and fragmentation functions (FFs). Inclusive D^{*+-} Production in p p-bar Collisions with Massive Charm Quarks
Abstract: We calculate the next-to-leading order cross section for the inclusive production of D^{*+-} mesons in p p-bar collisions as a function of the transverse momentum and the rapidity in two approaches using massive or massless charm quarks. For the inclusive cross section, we derive the massless limit from the massive theory. We find that this limit differs from the genuine massless version with MS… ▽ More

Abstract: We study the photoproduction of a D^{*+-} meson in association with a hadron jet at next-to-leading order in the parton model of QCD with non-perturbative fragmentation functions extracted from LEP1 data of e^+e^- annihilation. The transverse-momentum and rapidity distributions recently measured at DESY HERA in various kinematic ranges nicely agree with our theoretical predictions. This provides… ▽ More

Low x particle spectra in the Modified Leading Logarithm Approximation
Abstract: We show that the higher moments of the evolution obtained from the Modified Leading Logarithm Approximation may be regarded as spurious higher order terms in perturbation theory, and that neglecting them leads to a good description of the data around and above the peak in $ξ=\ln (1/x)$. Furthermore, we use this study of the moments to show that at high energy the Limiting Spectrum with Local Par… ▽ More

Abstract: We perform fits of $Λ_{\rm QCD}$ and the gluon fragmentation function $D(x,Q)$ at initial scale $Q_0 \ggΛ_{\rm QCD}$ to charged light hadron momentum spectra data by evolving in the Modified Leading Logarithm Approximation. Without additional assumptions, we achieve a good description of the available data for $ξ=\ln(1/x)$ up to and around the Gaussian peak, and values of $Λ_{\rm QCD}$ acceptabl… ▽ More

$M(η_b)$ and $α_s$ from Nonrelativistic Renormalization Group
Abstract: We sum up the next-to-leading logarithmic corrections to the heavy-quarkonium hyperfine splitting using the nonrelativistic renormalization group. On the basis of this result, we predict the mass of the $η_b$ meson to be $M(η_b)=9419 \pm 11 {(\rm th)} {}^{+9}_{-8} (δα_s) MeV$. The experimental measurement of $M(η_b)$ with a few MeV error would be sufficient to determine $α_s(M_Z)$ with an accura… ▽ More
