In the paper, we consider the processes of single top quark production in association with dark matter particles through the t-channel in simplified models with scalar and pseudoscalar mediators. Within the framework of these models, we analyze the spin correlations that arise in the top quark production process in association with dark matter, comparing them with the production of a top quark in the Standard Model. We consider angular correlations of kinematic variables, which define admissible regions in momentum space and can be used experimentally to distinguish between the fraction of the total momentum carried away by the scalar or pseudoscalar mediator.

Numerical simulations of processes of three and four top quark hadroproduction are carried out in the SMEFT model framework. The simulated data are used to derive expected theoretical constraints on Wilson coefficients of relevant SMEFT operators of dimension six. Obtained limits for both cases are discussed and compared in terms of processes sensitivity to possible BSM contribution. Results show that operator $O_{tt}^1$ is better constrained by the process of four top quark production, whereas other four operators $O_{QQ}^1$, $O_{Qt}^1$, $O_{Qt}^8$ and $O_{QQ}^8$, are similarly constrained in three and four top quark production processes. In all cases, the expected limits taken from the simultaneous analysis of the production of three and four top quarks are strengthened. The question of how kinematic cutoffs motivated by partial unitarity affect the resulting constraints on the Willson coefficients is addressed. It is shown that in all cases the limits are getting somewhat worse if the kinematic cutoffs reflecting the unitarity are applied.

The Effective Field Theory (EFT) approach is widely used in the search for possible deviations from the predictions of the Standard Model. Such an approximation of possible BSM physics is valid up to a certain levels of energy scale and accuracy. In this article, we investigate potential limitation of the EFT approach related to unitarity to describe possible contributions of flavor changing neutral currents (FCNC) involving the top quark. The numerical and analytical calculations of the FCNC processes used in the EFT approach demonstrate the constant asymptotic behavior of the total cross section with increasing energy. It is shown that the EFT approach for studying the possible contribution of FCNC does not violate the restrictions following from perturbative unitarity, the asymptotic behavior of the cross section does not exceed the Froissart bound, and the approach itself can be used to set the corresponding experimental limits for FCNC couplings or Wilson coefficients at present and future colliders.

Spin correlations in the t-channel single top quark production and its subsequent decay are investigated for the case of contributions involving anomalous Wtb couplings. We obtain analytical expressions for the differential widths for the three-particle decay of a polarized t quark in its rest frame and also expressions for the differential cross sections of the full process of production and decay of the t quark ($2\to 4$) as a function of the energy of a charged lepton and two angles of orientation of the quantization axis of the t-quark spin. The expression is presented in the most general form for the case of real and imaginary vector and tensor anomalous Wtb couplings. We show that shapes of certain multidimensional kinematic distributions of final state particles are significantly different for the contributions proportional to different combinations of the anomalous couplings. The most noticeable differences appear in the shape of the surfaces of two-dimensional distributions, where one of the variables is the energy of a charged lepton and the other is one of the t-quark spin orientation angles. Observed properties are confirmed by two methods of computations either from the obtained symbolic expression for the differential cross sections of the full process of the polarized single top quark production with its subsequent decay or by means of the CompHEP program for the complete process involving the t-channel single top. In addition, using the obtained analytical expressions, we estimate the statistical accuracy of extracting values of the anomalous Wtb couplings for different levels of the expected integral luminosity at the LHC.

A method to simulate anomalous fermion-boson interactions in Wtb vertex is presented with a minimal set of simulated samples of single top quark events at the LHC energies. In proposed method additional auxiliary vector fields corresponding to the Standard Model gauge fields are implemented for each type of the anomalous vertex structure. The method allows to simulate a manifestation of anomalous gauge couplings in two approaches used in experimental analyses either keeping only the linear order contributions in the anomalous couplings or keeping all contributions in numerators and denominators as appeared in matrix elements. All the single top quark production mechanisms, $t$-, $s$- and associative tW-channels are considered. The correctness of the proposed method is demonstrated.

We discuss the specificity of searches for hypothetical $W^{\prime}$, $Z^{\prime}$ and $γ^{\prime}$ bosons at hadron colliders in single top quark and $μ^{+}ν_μ$ production and Drell-Yan processes assuming these particles to be the Kaluza-Klein excitations of the gauge bosons of the Standard Model. In this case any process mediated by $W$ is also mediated by the whole KK tower of its excitations, whereas to the processes mediated by $Z$ and $γ$ there is not only a contribution from their KK towers, but also from that of the graviton. The contributions of the towers above $W^{\prime}$, $Z^{\prime}$ and $γ^{\prime}$ and above the first excitation of the graviton are included with the help of effective four-fermion Lagrangians. We compute the cross-sections of these processes taking into account the contributions of the Standard Model gauge bosons, of their first KK modes and of the corresponding KK towers and discuss the impact of the interference between them. For pp-collisions at the LHC with the center of mass energy 14 TeV we found specific changes of the distribution tails due to the interference effects. Such a modification of distribution tails is characteristic for the processes mediated by particles coming from extra dimensions and should always be taken into account when looking for them.

Deviations from the standard Higgs sector generated by some new (nonstandard) physics at an energy scale Λcould be described by an effective SU(3)_c x SU(2)_L x U(1) invariant non-renormalizable Lagrangian terms of dimension six. The set of dimension-six operators involving the Higgs field is chosen in such a way that the form of gauge bosons kinetic terms remains untouched, preserving all high-precision electroweak constraints. A systematic study of effects in various Higgs boson production channels (γγ, ZZ, WW, bb-bar, ττ-bar) caused by effecive operators is carried out beyond the {production x decay} approximation (or infinitely small width approximation). Statistical methods are used to establish consistency of the standard Higgs sector with the available LHC data. A global fit in the two-parametric anomalous coupling space indicating to possible deviations from the standard Higgs-fermion and Higgs-gauge boson couplings is performed, using post-Moriond 2012 data and more precise LC 2013 data. We find that the standard Higgs sector is consistent with the current CMS and ATLAS experimental results both in the infinitely small width approximantion and the calculation with complete gauge invariant sets of diagrams. However, visible difference of the exclusion contours is found for some combinations of production and decay channels, although minor for the global fits for all possible channels. Updates of the signal strength and the signal strength error reported at LC 2013 result in a significant improvements of the allowed regions in the anomalous coupling space, which are recalculated also at complete tree level.

We consider a stabilized RS1 model in the energy range below the direct production of KK states. In this range we work out the effective Lagrangian due to exchange of heavy KK tensor graviton and scalar radion states and compute explicitly the corresponding effective coupling constants. As an example, the Drell-Yan lepton pair production at the Tevatron and the LHC is analyzed in two situations, when the first KK resonance is too heavy to be directly detected at the colliders, and when the first KK resonance is visible but other states are still too heavy. It is shown that in both cases the contribution from the KK invisible tower leads to a modification of final particles distributions. In particular, for the second case a nontrivial interference between the first KK mode and the rest KK tower takes place. Expected 95% CL limits for model parameters for the Tevatron and the LHC are given. In the Appendix useful formulas for the cross sections and distributions of various new $2\to2$ processes via heavy KK tower exchange are presented, the new formulas containing nonzero particle masses for final state fermions and bosons. The formulas and numerical results are obtained by means of the CompHEP code, in which all new effective interactions are implemented providing a tool for simulation of corresponding events and a more detailed analysis.

Prospects to search for a new massless neutral gauge boson, the paraphoton, in e+ e- collisions at center-of-mass energies of 0.5 and 1 TeV are studied. The paraphoton naturally appears in models with abelian kinetic mixing. A possible realistic model independent lowest order effective Lagrangian contains magnetic interactions of the paraphoton with the Standard Model fermion fields. These interactions are proportional to the fermion mass and grow with energy, with however very weak paraphoton couplings to ordinary matter. At the ILC, a potentially interesting process to search for the paraphoton is its radiation off top quarks, so that the event topology to be searched for is a pair of acoplanar top quark jets with missing energy. By combining many discriminating features of signal and background events efficient paraphoton event selection was achieved allowing to set limits for the top-paraphoton coupling. Arguments in favor of the missing energy as the paraphoton with spin 1 are discussed.

The hope is that by considering and comparing both machines, the LHC program can be improved and aided by knowledge from the Tevatron, and that particle physics as a whole can be enriched. The paper is devoted to studies of prospects to search for hypothetical W-prime gauge bosons at hadron colliders via single-top quark production process. A special attention is paid to the interference between the Standard Model (SM) W and W-prime} boson contributions. A model independent analysis is performed for a wide interval of W-prime} masses potentially acceptable for a detection at the Tevatron and LHC. It is shown that the interference contribution to the cross section of the most promising s-channel single top production mode could be as large as 30 % for certain parameter points which is comparable to NLO effects computed in previous studies separately for the W-prime signal and the SM single-top background. The interference contribution affects particle distributions and has to be taken into account for more accurate W-prime signal and background simulation.

This Report summarises the activities of the "SM and Higgs" working group for the Workshop "Physics at TeV Colliders", Les Houches, France, 2-20 May, 2005. On the one hand, we performed a variety of experimental and theoretical studies on standard candles (such as W, Z, and ttbar production), treating them either as proper signals of known physics, or as backgrounds to unknown physics; we also addressed issues relevant to those non-perturbative or semi-perturbative ingredients, such as Parton Density Functions and Underlying Events, whose understanding will be crucial for a proper simulation of the actual events taking place in the detectors. On the other hand, several channels for the production of the Higgs, or involving the Higgs, have been considered in some detail. The report is structured into four main parts. The first one deals with Standard Model physics, except the Higgs. A variety of arguments are treated here, from full simulation of processes constituting a background to Higgs production, to studies of uncertainties due to PDFs and to extrapolations of models for underlying events, from small-$x$ issues to electroweak corrections which may play a role in vector boson physics. The second part of the report treats Higgs physics from the point of view of the signal. In the third part, reviews are presented on the current status of multi-leg, next-to-leading order and of next-to-next-to-leading order QCD computations. Finally, the fourth part deals with the use of Monte Carlos for simulation of LHC physics.

The process of top quark pair production at the ILC with subsequent decays of one of the top quarks to a charged Higgs boson and b-quark is considered. The charged Higgs decays to tau leptons whose polarization is the opposite to those coming from W bosons. The charged Higgs decays to tau leptons whose polarization is the opposite to those coming from W bosons. This difference is reflected in the energy distributions of the tau decay products in the top quark rest frame, which can be reconstructed at the ILC using the recoil mass technique. We present an analysis including spin correlations, backgrounds, ISR/FSR and beamstrahlung, and show that a fit of the shape of the pion energy spectrum yields the charged Higgs boson mass with an accuracy of about 1 GeV.

We analyze the prospects for detecting the three neutral Higgs bosons of the Minimal Supersymmetric extension of the Standard Model in the intense-coupling regime at e+e- colliders. Due to the small mass differences between the Higgs states in this regime and their relative large total decay widths, the discrimination between the particles is challenging at the LHC and in some cases even impossible. We propose to use the missing mass technique in the Higgs-strahlung process in e+e- collisions to distinguish between the two CP-even Higgs eigenstates h and H, relying on their b b-bar decay in the b,b-bar,l+,l- event sample. Ah and AH associated production is then studied in the 4b-jet event sample to probe the CP-odd A boson. At collider energies sqrt(s) = 300 GeV and an integrated luminosity of 500 fb-1, accuracies in the mass measurement of the CP-even Higgs bosons are expected to range from 100 to 300 MeV, while for the CP-odd A boson, accuracies of less than 500 MeV can be obtained.

Physics at the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) and the International e+e- Linear Collider (ILC) will be complementary in many respects, as has been demonstrated at previous generations of hadron and lepton colliders. This report addresses the possible interplay between the LHC and ILC in testing the Standard Model and in discovering and determining the origin of new physics. Mutual benefits for the physics programme at both machines can occur both at the level of a combined interpretation of Hadron Collider and Linear Collider data and at the level of combined analyses of the data, where results obtained at one machine can directly influence the way analyses are carried out at the other machine. Topics under study comprise the physics of weak and strong electroweak symmetry breaking, supersymmetric models, new gauge theories, models with extra dimensions, and electroweak and QCD precision physics. The status of the work that has been carried out within the LHC / LC Study Group so far is summarised in this report. Possible topics for future studies are outlined.
