With the idea of enabling a more thorough education and a faster interconnection between science and entrepreneurship, the Ministry of Education, Science and Technological Development of the Republic of Serbia invested in the construction of the Multi-Purpose Lamella at the Faculty of Electronics, University of Niš. The project was completed by the Teking Architecture Studio from Niš. The lamella is an extension of the existing building of the Faculty of Electronics, forming a coherent whole with it. The design concept of the building was developed by integrating a number of key influential determinants (program, place and time of construction), and it reflects and emphasizes the architecture of the original structure.

The paper presents a theoretical basis, simulation and computations - calculations of heating energy needs for established models, by using appropriate software packages. The program and development of models for improving energy qualities of the envelope, with the tendency of switching to renewable energy sources, are defined. The methods used in this paper include the method of modelling based on the digital simulation of the representative facility, as well as local visits and interviews with relevant researchers, policy makers and preschool educators. The survey is conducted through a case study on the territory of the City of Nis.

In the paper, the systematization of the physical environment factors and their influence on the cognitive processes and the social behavior of children in the pre-school facilities. The conclusion is that the quality of architectonic design, that is, the quality of organization and materialization of the designed physical environment of the pre-school premises correlates with the positive developmental results of the children.

The obtained results indicated the advantages and limitations, both in application of the compact and the developed architectonic plan. On the basis of the comparative analysis of the determined functional implications, it was concluded that a compact architectonic plan of an elementary school is a design providing a wider range of qualitative potentials.

Irrespective of the size of the school, high level of usability and connectedness of all areas which are often consequentially multifunctional in character, represents one of the basic ways for overcoming of rigid spatial-functional volumes characteristic for architectonic design of traditional schools. In the paper, an analysis of three possible dispositions of social functions was done - of central, linear and dislocated. Conditioned by specific influential factors, for each of the spatial dispositions, functional characteristics have been systematized. On their basis, it was concluded that in optimal conditions of architectonic organization of primary school, application of central disposition can to the best measure contribute to achieving the s...

The aim is to evaluate their quality and sustainability and to identify all important impact factors influencing their properties. A case study was conducted on a representative sample of four multi-family housing sites in Nis, Serbia. Determining the interconnection between urban planning parameters and the realized quality of POS is one of the primary objectives that could lead to forming recommendations for future multi-family housing development, including more usable and sustainable POS in the current social and economic context. The models for improvement of POS quality and sustainability are defined as a research result.

By observing the school premises as a complex dynamic field, the starting hypothesis is that the appropriate physical environment model is derived based on the needs and activities of school children and teachers in the pedagogical process. The physical environment factors that may affect the quality of modern pedagogical process are defined by systematizing specificities of analysed categories, logic factorization and conducted questionnaire and by mapping key attitudes on the existing space of elementary schools. The factors are: the functional organization of elementary school space, its structure, size, extensibility, mobility, flexibility and (dis)continuity. Implementation of these factors in the design of elementary schools aims to create a physical environment that offers a range of transitional forms of the ...

In buildings of this type are practically excluded local place condensation on the inner surface of the outer enclosures. However, in most cases the cause of rising moisture sorption is fencing materials and condensation of water vapor in the interior of the enclosure. The paper presents the analysis of the humidity conditions of exterior walls “passive house”, located in the town of Nis (Republic of Serbia), recommendations for making moisture insulation are presented.

The quality of daylight in classrooms depends on a whole range of factors, and it is necessary to analyze and evaluate daylighting systems in each specific case. This paper analyses architectural concepts and daylighting systems that appropriately admit natural daylight into the classroom and also eliminate possible negative effects. In addition to passive systems, special attention is paid to the advanced systems that can actively control light levels. The basic factors that directly affect the quality of daylight in classrooms are defined and are related to: classroom layout, natural lighting modes, applied daylighting systems for dispersion of natural lighting and the control of the luminous environment in the room.

Space-planning features in design for pre-school facilities create special conditions for solar power use to ensure heat and power supply. The article deals with estimation of incoming solar power in reference to the surfaces oriented in different cardinal directions under the weather conditions of the city of Saint-Petersburg (Russia) and the city of Nish (Serbia). A model of how to ensure power supply for a kindergarten of the city of Nish is presented on the basis of the calculations analysis. The cases with regard to completed projects designed to use renewable energy sources in order to supply pre-school facilities with energy in other weather conditions are given herein.
