PVLT-03 Solar energy is of great importance in an energy sources for different aspects. Electricity and thermal yields are possible from this infinite source. Although more traditional and old version of solar energy use is thermal collectors, nowadays photovoltaic systems are very popular for electricity generation from solar energy. Due to the demand of electricity increasing, consumers have started to generate electricity on their roofs. Thus, the roof area should be considered for both thermal and electricity. That is why PV/T, the applied jointly, becomes a new version of roof applications. In this article for the limited roof area, combination of PV and thermal application is compared with PV/T, based on techno-economic performance; and optimum rated area sharing for PV and thermal combination is determined.

Organized Industrial Zones (OIZ) are places for manufacturing of goods and provision of services, established and operated in accordance with the provisions of the Ministry of Science Industry and Technology of Turkey. The process input-outputs and their environmental impacts are ignored in conventional OIZ’s. However, global conditions of competition have changed today and manufacturers need to consider the economic, ecologic and energy factors, reuse of products and raw materials, recovery of waste and the efficient use of all resources. Hospitals are of special interest for health promotion and the hospital sector is one of the biggest entrepreneurs in Turkey. Hospitals could be a strong partner for public health issues and also hospital sector has a heavy consumption of material and energy and a huge production of waste and carbon dioxide. This study summarizes research findings concerning knowledge, attitudes and behavior relevant to energy and environmental subjects of health managers. A survey was conducted with 47 decision-makers in nine leader private hospital in Turkey. Survey examines what the healthcare leaders are thinking about the energy management, green hospitals and what healthcare organizations are doing in response to rising energy costs, what factors are motivating efficiency improvements, how many organizations are planning to make investments, what payback they expect on energy efficiency investments, and what technologies and practices they have been implementing in their facilities. Energy performance monitoring is doing in 50 % of hospitals and in 40 % of hospitals there is a budget for energy. There are energy mangers in 45 % of hospitals. Only 18 % of healthcare leaders are defining the hospitals as environmentally friendly and just 2 % of hospitals have Leed certificate. Only the 2 % of hospitals are using just cogeneration systems and are not using the other renewable energy resources. According to 30 % of healthcare leaders the most importance of energy management using in hospitals is decreasing the costs and the second importance is the safety to global warming. Energy efficiency is getting more attention among healthcare facility leaders. They were very or fairly concerned about climate change, they are paying attention to energy management in hospitals and most of them are thinking that energy efficiency and the usage of renewable energy resources in hospitals are very important.

Today, sustainability and energy efficiency are of prime importance in satisfaction of thermal and electrical loads of buildings. In this study, innovative hybrid solutions alternative to conventional HVAC systems are investigated. Objective of study is to minimize the payback period and CO2 emissions are main objectives. For conventional HVAC systems two sources of energy, namely natural gas and electricity were considered as the base line. Energy sources for the innovative methods were considered to be solar energy, ground heat and waste heat. Conventional system was considered to be a backup system when innovative energy resources are insufficient. Hourly heating, cooling and electrical power loads of Eser Green Building, which already has LEED Platinum certificate were used for the case study, which aims to further improve the energy and exergy efficiency.
