Following on preliminary research (Kétyi, 2013), in this project we looked for a mobile language learning solution, which combines computers and mobile devices. Our main idea was to explore whether by integrating mobile devices in our language teaching practice, our students at the Budapest Business School would gain valuable additional learning time outside school and whether that would improve their language learning efficiency. The mobile language learning application that was chosen for the project was busuu (https://www.busuu.com/ enc/). The participants (N=94, M=20.77 years) were studying four different foreign languages (German, English, Spanish, Italian). The findings of this exploration show that busuu and other similar language learning apps are still new and unknown to the students, only one of them had used busuu before. The use of busuu was easy and simple, the app worked smoothly on the students' devices; during the study, the experimental group increased their performance (+2.2%) according to the language test results while the control group decreased it (-3.1%) and the difference at the post measurement is statistically significant (p=.013). An analysis of the results across gender showed that the female students performed at the post measurement significantly better than the male students (p=.032), and according to the students' opinions, busuu provides limited help concerning the language skills.

The popularity of smart phones has increased enormously in the last few years. Because of the increasing penetration of these devices and the above-average willingness of our students using new tools and devices in language courses, we decided to design a voluntary pilot project for mobile language learning for students who learn German as a second language (N = 70). In our project we decided to use busuu.com, because of its easy registration process, the clear design, the very active and helpful busuu community and primarily, because of the provided tasks and materials, which are available via PC and via mobile devices too. The voluntary pilot project started in March and ended in May 2013. Every week, the students had                                                                                    experience during the project in the learning management system of the school. In May, we asked the participants how they used their devices in language learning, their experiences with language learning with busuu, what they felt were ideal learning environments for mobile learning and the types of activities they felt that their mobile devices were suited for.

Why have we started this research? There are surveys that show that information-and communication technologies (ICT) are not widely used at schools. Teachers primarily use ICT in their planning and follow-up activities, but not in their teaching (Erstad, 2004). Some Hungarian experience shows that the situation is changing. We refer to the qualitative research started in 2005 in six schools with 970 pupils, from the age of 10 to young adults. (Hunya et al., 2006) This research focused on the use of Sulinet Digital Knowledgebase (SDT) and there were already teachers who used ICT tools in their teaching. Another reason for conducting the research is the poor statistics of spoken languages by Hungarians (Eurobarometer, 2006) and the decreasing number of language lessons at the Budapest Business School. The solution in our opinion could be the everyday use of ICT tools in teaching. We hope to show with this research that the use of ICT tools can be well implemented in the everyday teaching practice, and it can work efficiently. We expect convincing evidence that the use of the ICT tools mentioned in this research leads to more efficient language acquisition. The research Overview of the research The ongoing empirical research is about the everyday use of ICT tools in the collaborative language learning environment with four groups at the Budapest Business School who study German as a second language. The participant students are in the age of 18-19 and the majority of them are at the European language reference level B2. The research began in September 2008 and will end in June 2009. We have 63 students at the moment, 48 in three research groups (Group 2, Group 3 and Group 6) and 15 in a control group (Group 1). There are currently three teachers and two IT-colleagues in the research, but we will involve two other groups and teachers (Group 4 and Group 5) as control groups in February 2009. Therefore, we will cover all first year students who learn German as a second language. We use the book German Business Language I. as the course book, both in its printed and in its digitalized version. We have planned a combination of quantitative and qualitative research. Data collection will be made quantitatively by questionnaires and tests, and qualitatively by transcripts of interviews, observations, document analyses, logs of ICT use and narratives and we run a research blog too. Az interaktív táblák utóbbi időben tapasztalt gyors terjedése miatt indokolt annak áttekintése, hogy ezeket az eszközöket hol, milyen tárgyakban és iskolatípusokban, milyen hatékonysággal alkalmazták eddig. A tanulmány elkészítéséhez 15 nemzetközi tanulmányt tekintettünk át, melyek angolszász országok interaktív táblás kutatás eredményeiről számolnak be. Ezen tanulmányok között kettő kivételével csak kvalitatív eszközökkel (kérdőívekkel, videók elemzésével és interjúkkal) és gyakran kis mintaszámmal végzett kutatás található. Az interaktív táblák mintegy évtizedes elterjedése után az interaktivitás fogalma még mindig sok ilyen táblát használó tanár számára nem kellően egyértelmű, pedig ez a fogalmi tisztázatlanság – mint ahogy erre több tanulmány is utal – ezen eszközök tanórai használatát és hatását jelentősen befolyásolhatja. Ezért a tanulmány elején kitérünk az interaktivitás fogalmára és megkülönböztetjük a technológiai interaktivitást, a pedagógiai interaktivitástól. Ezt követően a legtöbb vizsgált tanulmány felépítését követve, először az interaktív tábla pozitívumait, majd a vele kapcsolatos kihívásokat ismertetjük, bár néha ezek nem választhatók szét olyan élesen egymástól, sok esetben mi sem tesszük ezt. A tanulmány végén egy rövid összegzést követően számos praktikus ajánlást fogalmazunk meg interaktív táblát használó tanárok számára, továbbá olyan problémafelvetéseket is közlünk, melyek a területet kutatni kívánó kollégák számára relevánsak lehetnek.

Möglichkeiten vom Einsatz von E-Learning-Techniken im Fremdsprachenunterricht Diese Arbeit gliedert sich in drei große Teile. Im ersten Teil gebe ich einen Überblick über die theoretischen Grundlagen von E-Learning, und ich kläre die Begriffe, die mit dem Thema im Zusammenhang stehen. Ferner mache ich die Vor-und Nachteile von E-Learning klar, stelle ich dar, wann und auf welchen Gebieten es sich lohnt, das E-Learning im Fremdsprachunterricht einzusetzen. Ich präsentiere einen Fragenkatalog, der befriedigend beantwortet werden soll, um ein effektives, erfolgreiches E-Learning zu gestalten. Ich gehe detailliert darauf ein, wie sich ein wirksames Lehrmaterial entwickeln lässt, welche Prinzipien dabei berücksichtigt werden sollten. Im zweiten Teil der Arbeit stelle ich zwei Beispiele dar, ein internationales und ein fremdsprachliches, die eindeutig zeigen, wie das E-Learning-Konzept in die Praxis umzusetzen ist. Im letzten Teil bringe ich konkrete Beispiele aus eigener Unterrichtserfahrung, mit welchen man den DaF-Unterricht effizienter gestalten kann. Das Hauptziel dieser Arbeit ist, meinen Kollegen und dem Management der Hochschule Anregungen zum Thema E-Learning zu geben. Bevezetés Az információs és kommunikációs technológiák (IKT) terjedése új lehetısége-ket és egyben kihívásokat jelent a nyelvtanítási, illetve nyelvtanulási folyama-tokban, ami a nyelvtanárt is új, izgalmas feladatok elé állítja. A nyelvtanárnak képesnek kell lennie, hogy az elektronikus tananyagokat felhasználja, illetve, hogy a nyelvtanulókat felkészítse ezen anyagok befogadására. A téma aktuálisát csak fokozza, hogy ebben a félévben kezdıdtek el a BGF mindhárom karán az új e-learning portállal 1 kapcsolatos elıkészületek, érte-kezletek, videokonferenciák. Ebben az írásban az e-learning, illetve az e-learning-technikák karunkon folytatott idegennyelv-oktatásban történı alkalmazásának lehetıségeit szeret-ném bemutatni.

Elıadásom témája egy, a Magyar Tudomány Napja konferencia központi témájához, a refor-mokhoz szorosan kapcsolódó oktatási segédeszköz, az interaktív tábla, illetve annak alkalmazása a szaknyelvi órákon. Bár interaktív tábla a Budapesti Gazdasági Fıiskola Külkereskedelmi Fıiskolai Karán két helyen, a nyelvi laborban és a könyvtárban is található, eddig még senki nem használta azokat arra, amire készültek: interaktív oktatási segédeszköznek. Ezért a Mőszaki Kiadó Kft. és az Oktatási és Kulturális Minisztérium által meghirdetett " Az én interaktív táblám " címő pályázatra KISS ISTVÁNNAL, a számítástechnikai szervezet vezetıjének helyettesével együtt elkészítettük az elsı interaktív tananyagot. Nagy-nagy örömünkre és meglepetésünkre ez az interaktív tananyag 2007. szeptember 22-én a fent említett konferencia Mimio 1-szekciójában elsı díjat nyert. Elıadásom fıbb pontjai a következık: • rövid áttekintés az interaktív tábla használatának lehetıségeirıl a szaknyelvi órákon (rövid SWOT-analízis), • a pályamő rövid bemutatása, mely (német) gazdasági szaknyelvi órához készült, • a munka során szerzett tapasztalatok, • az együttmőködés lehetséges folytatása, annak kiterjesztése, az interaktív tananyagok esélyei (késıbbi felhasználásuk, módosításuk stb.). 1. AZ INTERAKTÍV TÁBLA HASZNÁLATÁRÓL Az alapfilozófiám, hogy csak olyan területeken látom értelmét az interaktív tábla használatának, ahol az egyfajta hozzáadott értéket nyújt, csak show-elemként nem alkalmazom azt. Az alábbiakban röviden kitérek arra, hogy mely területeken egészítem ki a hagyományos oktatást az interaktív tábla segítségével, és bemutatok néhány saját gyakorlatból merített példát. Az interaktív táblát jellemzıen a következı esetekben használom a tanórákon: a) a tananyag jobb szemléltetésének céljából, b) a tananyag elmélyítésénél, c) a hallgatók tanórákba történı aktív bevonásának elısegítéséhez, d) csoportmunkáknál. a) Szaknyelvi oktatóként sokszor szembesülök azzal a ténnyel, hogy a hallgatóinknak nincsenek világos elképzeléseik, információik egy adott területrıl, annak mőködésérıl (pl. hogyan mőkö-dik a tızsde). Ilyenkor egy, az interneten fellelhetı videó segítségével és hozzá összeállított fe-ladatokkal gyorsan pótolni tudjuk ezt a hiányosságot. Use of Virtual Learning Environments – Experiences of one Semester The roots of virtual learning environments (VLE) go back to distance education, a process which allows the service of teaching and the consumption of this service to be displaced from one another both in time and location. Such a displacement is made possible by the different inherent characteristics of the two procedures. The resulting asynchrony is an indigenous feature of this type of teaching/learning since the complete process has to be thoroughly designed, broken down to its sub processes. In this respect, however, there is no apparent difference between VLEs and distance learning. The novelty of VLEs is brought by the fact that the teacher and his/her students can develop together the learning path. Thus they are not bound to follow a rigid order of acquiring skills and knowledge previously designed by authors of books and softwares. Coospace is one example of such VLEs. Being developed by a Hungarian team, it has been available for use for the last three semesters at the Budapest Business School. This environment has been used and tested during both terms of the 2007/08 academic year by three of my third year student groups. In my presentation I will give a structured description of my experience while teaching with Coospace. I will specify what the strengths and weaknesses of this tool are, thus explaining in which areas it is possible to use VLEs effectively. Having collected altogether 84 anonymous surveys (37 in 2007 and 47 in 2008) about my students' opinion, I will reflect on their ultimate user experience as well. I am convinced that the presentation will add to the expertise of our colleagues using Coospace in our school. I also trust that by answering questions that have emerged while using Coospace, the presentation will serve to foster and motivate further colleagues to use VLEs, and use them effectively, as an integral part of the everyday practice. Main points of the presentation are: • A short presentation about the properties of VLE's • Experiences with Coospace in 2007 and 2008 in three German language groups • Conclusion and recommendations A VTK-k és tulajdonságaik rövid bemutatása Gyökerei, fejlıdése A virtuális tanulási környezet (továbbiakban VTK) gyökerei a távoktatásig nyúlnak vissza, ami során a tanítás szolgáltatása és annak fogyasztása, a szolgál-tatások természetétıl elütı módon, térben és idıben elválik egymástól. Ez az aszinkronitás komoly változás, hiszen a tanulási folyamatokat így nagyon alapo-san, részfolyamatokra lebontva kell megtervezni. Ebben a VTK és a távoktatás tekintetében nincs nagy különbség. Távoktatás régóta mőködik, kipostázott ta-nulócsomagok, kazetták, késıbb CD-k formájában. A nagy ugrást a számítógép, majd késıbb az internet megjelenése hozta.
