Aida Velasco
Dr. Aida Licaros-Velasco is an associate professor at De La Salle University, Department of Decision Sciences and Innovation, Ramon V. Del Rosario, College of Business. She is presently the Philippine National Team Leader for the Global Entrepreneurship Monitor Research and the lead author on 2013 Philippine Entrepreneurhsip. She also co-authored the recent publication on ASEAN Regional Entreprneurship Report 2014-2015 (http://www.gemconsortium.org/report ); “Southeast Asia Inclusive Development and Innovation” and “Philippine Innovation and Inclusive Development System” (chapters in Inclusive Research System and Innovation in South East Asia edited by Pun-Arj Chairatana, Bangkok, Thailand, ISBN 978-616-92105-0-4.) ; and “The Philippine Innovation System Moving Towards Convergence” (chapter in Innovation Sysytem in Southeast Asia edited by Ratanawaraha, Pun-Arj Chairatana, and William Ellis, Chulalongkorn University Press, ISBN 9789740330653). She was the lead researcher and project leader of the research on “The Development of the Philippine Chemical Industry Master Plan for 2012-2030” and the research on “Towards a Ten-Year Roadmap for the Philippine Overseas Employment Industry”. She was the Philippine country team leader for the IDRC project City Innovation System for ASEAN Megacities. She has published two books namely: Finding the Missing Middle and Numerical Methods. She serves in the editorial board of the Asian Journal of Innovation and Technology, Philippine Journal of Innovation and Entrepreneurship, and the DLSU Business and Economics Review. She currently holds the Don Pedro Kwok Distinguished Chair of Entrepreneurship. She has earned her Doctor of Business Management, Masters in Business Administration, and Bachelor of Science in Industrial Management Engineering minor in Chemical Engineering at De La Salle University, Manila. She has undergone post doctoral studies in Technology Management and Innovation at the University of Sussex, England in 1997. She was a research exchange scientist on ergonomics at Chiba University, Japan in 1988.
She was the former Dean of the College of Engineering of De La Salle University, the founding dean of the DLSU-Canlubang, former registrar of the DLSU Professional School, Inc. She also served as the Director of the DLSU Incubator Center and the College of Business Research and Development Center. She is the past president of the South East Asian Ergonomics Association, editor of the Human Ergology Journal of Japan, and regular member of the National Research Council of the Philippines. She also served as the Editor in Chief of the DLSU Engineering Journal. She was awarded by the College of Engineering of DLSU the Pek Siao Seng Distinguished Professorial Chair of Industrial Management Engineering and the College of Business and Economics of the Vicente Chua Chair in Entrepreneurship and the Dona Carmen Ongsiako Distinguish Professorial Chair in Women Entrepreneurship. She is the first woman graduate of the College of Engineering of DLSU-Manila.
