This tutorial has been tested with the following versions:

  • 1607 (Anniversary Update) and below

The screenshots were taken using version: 1607 (Anniversary Update).


Import your certificates:

  • personal eduroam certificate
  • CERN Root Certification Authority 2 Certificate

into your system's certificate store by double clicking on the certificate files and following the instructions.

NOTE: Please install personal certificate in the Current User Store Location:

On non-CERN Windows installations, the system may install the CERN Root Certification Authority 2 Certificate in a wrong directory of the certificates store. In case you run into issues, make sure that the CA certificate is installed in the Trusted Root Certification Authority folder using certmgr.msc.

Try connecting to eduroam in the networks list that appears after clicking on the network icon.

Network and Sharing Center


Click on Connect using a certificate.

Set up a new connection or network


In the dropdown, select your certificate (its name is in the <username>-eduroam@cern.ch form). Then click OK.

Select your certificate


You should now be connected to eduroam.
