There is a concrete definition and diagnostic need for addiction in romantic relationships. The present study aims to develop a scale to identify individuals’ addiction levels in romantic relationships. The Addiction in Romantic Relationships Scale was developed and tested on 1110 Turkish university students (61.4% female; mean age 21.2 ± 2.08 years). The factor structure was investigated with exploratory factor analysis and confirmatory factor analysis. The scale consisted of a 13 item, three-factor structure (dedication, withdrawal, and obsession) that explained 62.4% of the total variance. The correlation coefficients between the Addiction in Romantic Relationships Scale subscales and the total score ranged from .74 to .86. The scale had good fit rates in terms of the confidential factor analysis (comparative fit index = .96, normed fit index = .95, goodness of fit index = .96, root mean square error of approximation = .55). Concurrent validity results showed that the Addiction in Romantic Relationships Scale had a high positive correlation between the love addiction criteria (r = .51) and Experiences in Close Relationship-Revised (r = .60). The scale had high reliability (Cronbach’s alpha= .87). As a result, the Addiction in Romantic Relationships Scale is a valid and reliable scale consisting of 13 items and a three-factor structure for evaluation of addiction in romantic relationships.

Cannabis is one of the important food and textile resources that has been used since 4000 BC. The fact that it was used as a medicine by the Chinese caused it to be included in the oldest pharmacopoeia in the world. However, in the 20th century, marijuana production from cannabis was a turning point in cannabis history, and then led to the limitation of cultivation areas and use. Today, cannabis is the most popular illicit drug worldwide. Regular use of cannabis is associated with impaired functioning, decreased academic performance, amotivation, addiction and, psychiatric disorders like psychosis, schizophrenia and mood disorders. On the other hand, recent research proposed promising therapeutic potential of cannabis-based drugs for a wide range of medical conditions including neurological and psychiatric disorders. These findings have led to the legalization of medical use of cannabis in certain states of the United States and in certain European countries. In this review, cannabi...

Anahtar Sözcükler: Alkol Bağımlılığı Şiddeti Ölçeği, alkol kullanım bozukluğu, geçerlik, güvenirlik SUMMARY Severity of Alcohol Dependence Questionnaire: Validity and Reliability of the Turkish Version Objective: The aim of the study is to determine the validity and reliability of Turkish version of Severity of Alcohol Dependence Questionnaire (SADQ) developed by Tim Stockwell and colleagues in 1983 for the purpose of evaluating the severity of dependence in people with alcohol use disorder. Method: The present study was conducted with an adult sample of 200 participants with alcohol use disorder according to DSM-5 (Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders) who applied to Ege University Institute on Drug Abuse, Toxicology and Pharmaceutical Science. Regarding validity analysis, item-total score correlation coefficients and principal component analysis were calculated. The scale was compared with Michigan Alcoholism Screening Test (MAST). Reliability analysis was performed with internal consistency reliability and test-retest reliability. Results: Considering the internal consistency reliability of scale, Cronbach's Alpha Reliability Coefficient was found to be α=0.914. Item and Total Score Correlation Coefficients of the scale items were found between 0.309 and 0.730 (p<0.01). The mean test-retest scores of the scale and its sub-dimensions were calculated with t-test for dependent groups and the difference was not statistically significant. Test-retest correlation coefficient of the scale was found 0.855 (p<0.01). Exploratory factor analysis explained 70.5% of the total variance and four sub-dimensions were identified. Factor loadings of these sub-dimensions were estimated between 0.49-0.91. The correlation between SADQ and MAST was statistically significant (r=0.557, p<0.01). Conclusion: The results of this study suggest that the Turkish version of the SADQ with four sub-dimensions is a reliable and valid instrument in determining severity of alcohol dependence.

Background: Studies about the effects of cannabis on male sexual function have contradictory results. This contradiction is thought to depend on the subjective assessment of the patient or on the use of non-validated questionnaires. Aims: The objective of this study was to evaluate the sexual function of male patients with cannabis use disorder by a validated questionnaire and to compare them with a healthy control group. Methods: 47 male patients with cannabis use disorder and without any comorbid psychiatric disorders were included in this study. The education level and age of the patients were matched with 33 healthy male participants. In addition to the sociodemographic characteristics, the pattern of cannabis use and sexual life were also questioned. Sexual function was evaluated by International Index of Erectile Function. Results: The scores of erectile function and orgasmic function in the patient group were found significantly lower than the control group. Erectile dysfunction was significantly more frequently reported in the patient group than the control group. Sexual desire, intercourse satisfaction, and overall satisfaction scores did not differ significantly between groups. Conclusions: Our findings indicated that sexual function should be inquired in men with cannabis use disorder. These findings could be used in prevention studies focused on cannabis use disorder.

We present a patient with inhalant use disorder. At the age of 19, after a stressful life event he had unsuccessfully
tried to suicide by inhaling LPG (liquefied petroleum gas, a mixture of butane and propane gases). After he realized that he had hallucinations and felt better during the inhalation, he started to abuse it. He was addicted to LPG for 10 years at the time of admission. Besides being dangerous for the society security, this intense level of LPG inhalation (12 liters a day) not giving any physical harm makes this case interesting.
