I currently offer courses spanning from late antiquity to the early sixteenth century, with emphasis on the rise and development of Latin Christendom and its relationship with the wider world, especially the Mediterranean. My current research interests include questions of virtue and justice in the Italian city communes; political society in late medieval Italy; and the consolidation of papal power within the Papal States.edit
