The purpose of this study was to know the results of the relation between short wave radiation (SWR) and sea temperature. This study used data of SWR and sea temperature from RAMA buoy which part of the data was obtained by the INA-PRIMA 2019. Besides, the SWR and Sea Temperature model data from ERA-5 and Copernicus were required to see these spatial and temporal variations. Diurnal analysis to determine the sea temperature responds to SWR parameters. While monthly analysis to see the variations of SWR and the sea temperature during Indian Ocean Dipole (IOD). The results show that there is a different response at sea temperature for each layer to the SWR parameter in diurnal. SWR can affect sea temperatures until 20 meters of depth. There is a time lag between 2 and 3 hours when the sun heats the sea until the sea surface temperature increases. The 20 meters of depth has a lag time until 4 hours. As for 40 to 80 meters of depth, the sea temperature was not longer responded by SWR, a...

Abstract: Numerical weather predictions are currently being developed to address the need for high resolution rainfall forecasting. However, numerical weather forecasts in Indonesia are still problematic in terms of the accuracy of numerical models. Several previous studies have shown that modeling accuracy is strongly influenced by errors in the initial condition data. This study examines efforts from the research and development of the Weather Forecast and Forecast (WRF) model of preliminary data using a satellite beam assimilation procedure for forecasting rainfall in the Ambon region for two different case studies in 2018. Six experimental models are carried out by assimilation of sensors AMSU-A and MHS satellites use the WRFDA 3DVar system. This research was conducted by increasing the assimilation analysis on the initial data model, analyzing the model skills in the dichotomy of rainfall predictions, rainfall criteria, spatial rainfall, and time series of rainfall accumulation...

Forest fires in Indonesia have been going on for years, which are common in the dry season. This prominent global phenomenon that has a significant impact on a variety of environment, ecosystem, climate functions and structures, furthermore it can produce smoke that is dangerous for health. During 2016, most hotspots in Indonesia occurred in JAS months (July, August, September). To enhance the capabilities of hotspot monitoring, this paper examined the Himawari-8 satellite data to detect the forest fires hotspot in Indonesia. The method used RGB (Red, Green, Blue) technique to combine Himawari-8 satellite data channel 4, 6, 7, and 13. This study was conducted in July, August, and September 2017. Monitoring which used Himawari-8 satellite data could detect forest fires hotspot in Sumatra, Kalimantan, East Nusa Tenggara, and Papua. The result shows that the sites of forest fires can be identified with the new combination of those data and can be seen as an image with the red pattern w...

Abstract: Indonesia is the country that contributed the largest coral reefs, about 18% total of the entire the world. Area of coral reef in Indonesia known as the “Coral Triangle”. This ecosystem has high ecology and economic value. The existence of the coral reefs is the main attraction for a tourism destination. However, the function and role of these ecosystems are decreasing due to natural factors and artificial factors. One of the natural factors is due to the influence of global warmings, such as sea surface temperature (SST), causing damage and coral death, known as coral bleaching. The purpose of this study was to identify the potential for coral bleaching in Indonesian waters using SPL anomaly analysis obtained from monthly AVHRR POES in the morning and night. This research used hotspots data (HS) by calculating the average of data anomaly difference with a maximum monthly average data during 10 years (2006 - 2017). The results obtained show that areas that have the potenti...

On November 26, 2017 eruption of Mount Agung. Volcanic ash from Mount Agung activities dangerous to the flight. Aircraft impact, volcanic ash is melted would freezes on the blades of the turbine, lumpy and overlaid them so blocking the normal air flow that keeps the engine will lose power on or off. Therefore, for some time the Ngurah Rai International Airport was briefly closed. Identification is done by making use of satellite images of Himawari satellites8 prepared by using the IR_windows method of the GMSLPD programme channel RGB (Red-Green-Blue) to get an overview of the dispersion, trajektori, as well as a contour map. The existence of a tropical cyclone Cempaka who are located in the Indian Ocean to the South of Yogyakarta also affects the distribution of volcanic ash that originally led to the east-southeastern direction into the southwest.

One of the extreme weather that happened in Indonesia is landspout. Landspout is virtually a tornado that forms from a thunderstorm that is not a supercell. On November 20, 2017 at 08.00 UTC there was a landspout in the village of Kertasada, Kalianget District, Sumenep Regency of Madura, East Java, Indonesia which caused damage to dozens of houses and many shops and warehouses. The study was done to determine the differences condition of the atmosphere before, during, and after the phenomenon based on synoptic analysis, atmospheric instability analysis, satellite image analysis, and radar image analysis. The results of the synoptic analysis of two weather parameters, pressure and temperature, also supported the occurrence of landspout phenomenon. Pressure and air temperature for two days before the occurrence of the landspout had a relatively similar pattern, but the average pressure appeared higher on the day of the incident. Temperature patterns showed a decrease from one hour bef...
