    Sandwich structures are frequently used in structural areas where lightness and strength are essential. These structures are indispensable for sailing boats, and ground and air vehicles. The base purpose of this study is to investigate the effect of wave parameters on the sandwich structure. The data obtained from the bending tests of the model created using Ls-Dyna was compared with the experimental data of the literature. There is a 3.05% difference between the peak force in experimental and Ls-Dyna. The force-deformation plots are coherent, and the progressive images of the sandwich structure during bending are similar. In addition, using theoretical approaches, the highest force and the amount of collapse during bending were determined. There is a difference of 3.1% between the theoretical approach and Ls-Dyna values. Thus, the Ls-Dyna model was validated. The flat cell walls of the honeycomb were modeled as a sine wave. Four wave numbers and wave amplitudes were used. In this way, 16 different analysis files were created. The results show that the new sandwich structure’s specific peak force and specific energy absorption (SEA) increased by 7–110% compared to the ordinary flat walled sandwich structure. This research will assist in the design of new sandwich structures.

    Bantlı konveyörlerde birim zamana bağlı olarak taşınan malzeme miktarını ifade eden konveyör kapasitesi; konveyörün eğimine bağlı olarak değişmektedir. Eğimli olarak çalışan konveyörlerin kapasitesi, genel bir eğim faktörü (k) tablosu üzerinden seçilen değerler kullanılarak bulunmaktadır. Buradaki eğim faktörü konveyör tasarımı ve taşınan malzeme özelliklerine bağlı olmadan, tüm konveyörler için aynı olarak kullanılmaktadır. Böylelikle konveyör kapasitesi yaklaşık olarak hesaplanmaktadır. Bu çalışmada hedeflenen, konveyör kapasitesinin genel olarak kullanılan eğim faktörüne ihtiyaç duyulmadan, Ayrık Elemanlar Metodu (Discrete Element Method) (DEM) kullanılarak her açı için numerik olarak bulunmasıdır.     Screw conveyors are used for the transmission of powder, small-grained and liquid materials in the different areas of industry. Screw conveyors have rotating helical shafts inside fixed a through or pipe. The goods are delivered with the rotation of screw. The rotational speed of screw shaft is directly related to the transmission capacity. It leads to serious balancing and vibration problems in conveyor because of the increasing rotational speed of screw shaft. The transmission capacity of materials depends on three factors. These are dimension and geometry of conveyor, characteristics of transmitted material. In this study, these parameters and change of flow rate are examined and results are given in tables.

    A lot of large cities in the world are likely expected to be struck by earthquakes. We should learn to live with earthquakes instead of being afraid of them and take some measures in our daily lives. Earthquakes are natural occurrences and, nowadays, the seismic risk zones are increasingly becoming familiar to us by the constantly developing technologies. Every building in these seismic risk areas needs to be designed to tolerate the earthquake shocks and several precautions should be taken in the lifts used in these buildings. In this paper, some vital precautions which should be taken in lifts of the buildings in these hazardous areas are explained.

The space elevator is one of the most important projects in space technology. The aim of the space elevator is a proposed structure designed to transport material or people from a celestial body’s surface into space. Although it is not possible to make the space elevator with our technology, the studies in this field carry on with high speed. In this paper, the studies on the space elevator are given and the workshop of students is presented.     In high-rise buildings, elevators must be safely and efficiently moving people during daytime. Generally, elevator up-peak traffic is predominant traffic between a lobby and various upper floors. Especially, the main expectation from elevators in buildings is increasing in a rush-hour time. Therefore, the passenger’s waiting time in their floor are increased. We can say that the services given by the elevator group control system are not sufficient in this building. The passenger service level in an elevator system depends on the controlling of the elevators. The purpose of this paper is to demonstrate that an effective way to control of elevators group using optimization algorithms and the results show that the average journey and waiting time of passengers are decreased by means of suggested method.

    Artificial intelligence based ship control systems such as fuzzy logic, neural networks and genetic algorithms. Nowadays, Genetic algorithms (GAs) are being used in a widespread way in optimization problems. In this paper, the course keeping autopilot using genetic algorithm is applied to stabilize the yaw motion of the containership. The simulation and optimization of the ship control systems with genetic algorithm have been obtained by running computer software programmed. Simulation results indicate that the autopilot system with genetic algorithm is able to obtain good performance in cases of rough sea conditions.

    In tall buildings where there is heaving traffic, the service offered by multi-car lift systems is qualitatively sufficent. Besides, the lifts are expected to work fast, efficiently and without waiting and not affecting the activities of the building negatively. It has become possible to apply computer-based group control systems for the liftts to function with high performance quantitatively. In this paper, the simulation and optimization of the lift control systems with genetic algorithms have been taken into consideration and an explanatory example has been given by introducing the developed software.

    Mopeds and motorcycles are popular in many countries due to the one of the cheapest transportation vehicles, limited space, the easy operation and maintenance. However, the exhausts from gasoline two wheelers cause serious environmental pollution in every country. A number of countries have implemented some policies to reduce air pollution. Therefore, many manufactures have taken some measurements on engine design to reduce exhaust emissions. Our aim is maximize the performance and reduce emissions by design modifications. This paper presents some design modifications on two stroke moped for decreasing exhaust emissions and results are examined with an illustrative example.

    Lift traffic control systems have become more complicated because of their nature of intelligence. Evolutionary algorithm methods employing genetic algorithms have been proved to be successful in many different fields. They have been applied to basic problems in lift traffic control systems, such as the reduction of passenger’s waiting time. In particular, genetic algorithms can offer better solutions to the passenger hall call allocation process when compared to the conventional traffic control methods. Lift control algorithms utilizing genetic algorithms aim at optimizing the most suitable cars to the floors by considering the passenger service demand. In this paper, the passenger’s waiting time has been reduced by using genetic algorithms and the lift control systems must be optimum.
