This article presents the research results from a Doctorate thesis under development regarding to the Science and Technology Parks (STPs) as innovation habitats inserted in local/regional policies. The study proposes an Innovation Service Structure Model for STPs focusing local/regional development, by creating tools applied to the main STP's stakeholders needs, specially small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), aiming to enhance their results, and strong/continuing partnership between Companies, Universities and R&D&I Centers and government agents (ternary models). The methodology used in this research is: exploratory studies, complemented by a critical-collaborative action-research, best practices analysis and model development and validation. To support the development of the proposed STP Model five specific aspects were chosen: KNOWLEDGE SERVICES; BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT SERVICES; ON-SITE COMMON SERVICES; AREA EXPANSION; OVERALL IMAGE (visibility). For this study, the researc...

ABSTRACT A quality assurance and quality control (QA/QC) system for the hydraulic packer tests has been established based on the surface-based investigations at JAEA’s underground research laboratories in Mizunami and Horonobe. The established QA/QC system covers field investigations (data acquisition) and data analysis. For the field investigations, the adopted procedure is selection of a test section based on a detail fluid logging and checking with tally list, followed by inspection of test tools such as pressure transducers and shut-in valves, etc., test method selection using a “sequential hydraulic test” for deciding appropriate method, and finally data quality confirmation by pressure changes and derivatives on a log-log plots during testing. Test event logs should also be described during testing for traceability. For the test data analysis, a quick analysis for rough estimation of hydraulic parameters, and a detailed analysis using type curve and/or numerical analyses are conducted stepwise. The established QA/QC system has been applied to the recent borehole investigations and its efficiency has been confirmed.

OBJECTIVE: To identify and evaluate latent variables (variables that are not directly observed) for adopting and using nuclear technologies in diagnosis and treatment of chronic diseases. The measurement and management of these latent factors are important for healthcare due to complexities of the sector. METHODS: An exploratory factor analysis study was conducted among 52 physicians practicing in the areas of Cardiology, Neurology and Oncology in the State of Sao Paulo who agreed to participate in the study between 2009 and 2010. Data were collected using an attitude measurement questionnaire, and analyzed according to the principal component method with Varimax rotation. RESULTS: The component matrix after factor rotation showed three elucidative groups arranged according to demand for nuclear technology: clinical factors, structural factors, and technological factors. Clinical factors included questionnaire answers referring to medical history, previous interventions, complexity ...

Markov Chains provide support for problems involving decisionon uncertainties through a continuous period of time. The greateravailability and access to processing power through computersallow that these models can be used more often to represent clinicalstructures. Markov models consider the patients in a discrete stateof health, and the events represent the transition from one stateto another. The possibility of modeling repetitive events and timedependence of probabilities and utilities associated permits a moreaccurate representation of the evaluated clinical structure. Thesetemplates can be used for economic evaluation in health care takinginto account the evaluation of costs and clinical outcomes, especiallyfor evaluation of chronic diseases. This article provides a review ofthe use of modeling within the clinical context and the advantages ofthe possibility of including time for this type of study.
