Evaluation of financial performance through analyzing the financial statement using financial ratios is usually related to how well an organization is using its revenue, expenses, assets as well as equity and liabilities which shows the picture of the financial position of that organization. Solvency (liquidity), profitability, turnover and return on assets (ROA) and return on equity (ROE) have been analyzed to interpret & measure the efficiency of management, financial performance and position of Square Pharmaceuticals Ltd. (SPL). The nature of the study is empirical based on secondary data that have been collected from annual reports of SPL (2012-2019). Pharmaceutical is a significant aide of industrialization in the nation. Having a significant contribution (1.83%) of pharmaceutical industry to our GDP with a growth rate (15...

The research literature provides evidence that user-adaptive information visualizations positively impact the users’ performance in visualization tasks. This study attempts to contribute toward the development of a computational model to predict the users’ success in visual search tasks from eye gaze data and thereby drive such user-adaptive systems. State-of-the-art deep learning models for time series classification have been trained on sequential eye gaze data obtained from 40 study participants’ interaction with a circular and an organizational graph. The results suggest that such models yield higher accuracy than a baseline classifier and previously used models for this purpose. In particular, a Multivariate Long Short Term Memory Fully Convolutional Ne...

However, overdispersed nature of count data is very common in health sciences. In such cases, PR produces misleading inferences and hence give incorrect interpretations of the results. Mixed Poisson regression with individual--level random effects (MPR_ILRE) is a further improvement for analyzing such data. We compare MPR_ILRE with PR, quasi-Poisson regression (Q_PR) and negative binomial regression (NBR) for modelling overdispersed antenatal care (ANC) count data extracted from the latest Bangladesh Demographic and Health Survey (BDHS) 2014. MPR_ILRE is found to be the best choice because of its minimum Akaike information criterion (AIC) value and the overdispersion exists in data has also been modelled very well. Study findings reveal that on average, women attended less than three ANC visits and only 6.5\% women received the World Health Organization (...

In this paper, observers' electrodermal activities (EDA) are analyzed to recognize 7 emotional categories while watching total of 80 emotional videos. Twenty participants participated as observers and 16 features were extracted from each video's respective EDA signal after a few processing steps. Mean analysis shows that a few emotions are significantly different from each other, but not all of them. Our generated arousal model on this dataset with these participants using their EDA responses also differs a little from the abstract models proposed in the literature. Finally, leave-one-observer-out approach and neural network classifier were employed to measure the performance, and the classifier reaches up to 94.8% correctness at the seven-class problem. The high accuracy inspires the potential of this system to use in future ...

The rectangular plate vibration has been of immense interests to the researchers for a long time.... more The rectangular plate vibration has been of immense interests to the researchers for a long time. In this literature, an investigation is performed to measure the dynamic response at the different points on a rectangular plate due to excitation at different points. The possibility of occurring different modes of vibration at the different points on the plate according to the position of excitation is demonstrated and explained from the modal shape of the plate obtained from the modal analysis. A conventional approach is performed to obtain the modes and the modes are compared with the FEM results. An analytical equation is used to obtain the dynamic deflection of harmonic excitation for free vibration to observe the occurring of different modes and also used to validate the results obtained from the finite element method. Then a constant damping condition is simulated to understand properly the variation of amplitude at different points of plate for different excitation conditions.

The transferability of the achieved result from driving simulators to the real world is a critical issue considering later real-world risks, and important to the ethics of experiments. Moreover, researchers have to trade-off between simulator sophistication and the cost it incurs to achieve a given level of realism. This study will be the first step towards investigating the plausibility of different driving simulator configurations of varying verisimilitude, from drivers' galvanic skin response (GSR) signals. GSR is the widely used indicator of behavioural response. By analyzing GSR signals in a simulation environment, our results are aimed to support or contradict the use of simple low-level driving simulators. We investigate GSR signals of 23 participants doing virtual driving tasks in 5 differe...

We have also investigated the effects of low molecular weight water-soluble chitosan (LMWC) on apoptosis in HT-29 cell. The changes in barrier properties of Caco-2 cell monolayers, including transepithelial electrical resistance (TEER) and permeability to lucifer yellow, were assessed in response to chitosan treatment. High molecular weight chitosan (HMWC) was found to cause up to 50% dose-dependent reduction in TEER of Caco-2 cell monolayer without damage to the cell membrane under lower concentration. The effect of HMWC on TJs was confirmed by increased permeability of lucifer yellow when cells were treated with 0.00-0.000% HMWC for 20 min compared to control cells. Results showed that HMWC did not affect the F-actin of cytoskeleton. LMWC was proven to be an antitumor compound as shown by inducing apoptosis as a function of DNA fragmentation. These results suggest that HMWC is an useful drug delivery agent in paracellular pathway and LMWC has potential value in colon cancer therapy.

The Chlorella kessleri microalgae species was employed to biosorb heavy metals from synthetic wastewater specimens. FTIR, and SEM/XRD analyses were utilized to characterize the microalgal biomass (the adsorbent). The experiments were conducted with several process parameters, including initial solution pH, temperature, and microalgae biomass dose. In order to secure the best experimental conditions, the optimum parameters were estimated using an integrated response surface methodology (RSM), desirability function (DF), and crow search algorithm (CSA) modeling approach. A maximum lead(II) removal efficiency of 99.54% was identified by the RSM–DF platform with the following optimal set of parameters: pH of 6.34, temperature of 27.71 °C, and biomass dosage of 1.5 g L−1. The hybrid RSM–CSA approach provided a globally optimal solution that was similar to the results obtained by ...

Knowledge of the properties of asphalt adhesives can help to provide a more resilient and durable asphalt surface. In this study, a hybrid of Bayesian optimization algorithm and support vector regression approach is recommended to predict the adhesion force of asphalt. The effects of three important variables viz., conditions (fresh, wet and aged), binder types (base, 4% SB, 5% SB, 4% SBS and 5% SBS), and Carbon Nano Tube doses (0.5%, 1.0% and 1.5%) on adhesive force are taken into consideration. Real-life experimental data (405 specimens) are considered for model development. Using atomic force microscopy, the adhesive strength of nanoscales of test specimens is determined according to functional groups on the asphalt. It is found that the model predictions overlap with the experimental...
