Background: Proper patient selection for most appropriate treatment option for hepatic hydatid is crucial to ensure successful treatment outcome. Chemotherapy, newer approaches, like PAIR procedure, (puncture, aspiration, injection and reaspiration) laparoscopy are available. As the indications for these approaches are restricted, surgery remains the key treatment strategy with hope for complete cure. Radical surgical excision coupled with chemotherapy and long-term aggressive chemotherapy for partially resected ensures lowest morbidity and mortality. Methods: This cross sectional observational study of 15-year single-institution experience, intended to further validate different surgical procedures in management of hydatid disease of liver and its outcome. Patients were randomly selected irrespective of their age, sex and mode of presentation. Different preferred surgical treatment modalities, perioperative complications, recurrences, and length of hospital stay were retrospectivel...

New Surface-Volume-Surface Electric Field Integral Equation (SVS-EFIE) based on magnetic current single source field representation (SVS-EFIE-M) is proposed for the problems of scattering on homogeneous non-magnetic dielectric objects. It's analytic MoM solution for a dielectric sphere is compared against the Mie series expansion to validate the exact nature of this new magnetic current based SVS-EFIE formulation. This analytic solution also allows to rigorously study spectral properties of the SVS-EFIE- M operators and to determine proper functional spaces in which MoM solutions of it should be sought in order to maintain bounded condition number of the pertinent matrix equation.

Electroporation or electropermeabilization (EP) is a non-viral physical process of inducing and/or increasing permeability of biological membranes by the application of high intensity and short duration electrical pulses. The resulting high field strength in the membrane can lead to the formation of regions of increased permeability, often called pores that allow transmembrane transport of macromolecules, such as DNA and chemo drugs. The efficacy of EP depends on a number of parameters, such as electric field strength, duration, number of pulses, size of target cell, and type of drug or DNA to be fed, to mention a few parameters. While electric field strength, duration, and number of pulses are the dominant parameters for the electroporation effect, the electric field distribution also depends on the shape, the size, and the material of electrodes used. The various electrodes used in practice are the parallel plate electrodes, the needle electrodes, the needle array electrodes, and ...

A local area network (LAN) is a computer network within a small geographical area such as a home, school, computer laboratory, office building or group of buildings. A LAN is composed of interconnected workstations and personal computers which are each capable of accessing and sharing data and devices, such as printers, scanners and data storage devices, anywhere on the LAN. LANs are characterized by higher communication and data transfer rates and the lack of any need for leased communication lines. Communication between remote parties can be achieved through a process called Networking, involving the connection of computers, media and networking devices. When we talk about networks, we need to keep in mind three concepts, distributed processing, network criteria and network structure. The purpose of this Network is to design a Local Area Network (LAN) for a BAEC (Bangladesh Atomic Energy Commission) Head Quarter and implement security measures to protect network resources and syst...

ETHNOPHARMACOLOGICAL RELEVANCE Aglaonema hookerianum Schott is an ethnomedicinally important plant used to treat a variety of diseases, including sexual and depression-like disorders. However, the scientific basis underlying the aforesaid properties have not been well justified. AIM OF THE STUDY The present investigation aimed to investigate the anxiolytic, antidepressant and aphrodisiac potentials of methanol leaves extract of A. hookerianum (MEAH) in Swiss albino mice. MATERIALS & METHODS Swiss albino mice (20-30 g) were orally administrated with MEAH at the doses ranging from 100 to 400 mg/kg, b.w. The elevated plus maze (EPM) and hole board test (HBT) were performed to determine the anxiolytic activity and the forced swimming test (FST) and tail suspension test (TST) were performed to determine the antidepressant activity of MEAH. Besides, the aphrodisiac activity of MEAH was conducted through the mounting behaviour and orientation behaviour analysis. Diazepam (1 mg/kg, b.w., i.p.) for EPM and HBT; fluoxetine HCl (20 mg/kg, b.w., p.o.) for FST and TST, and sildenafil (5 mg/kg, b.w., p.o.) for the mounting behaviour analysis and orientation behaviour analysis were used as reference drugs. RESULTS The administration of the MEAH produced a strong (p<0.001) dose-dependent anxiolytic effects in both HBT and EPM tests. Likewise, the extract revealed a significant (p<0.001) reduction in the immobility time in both FST and TST as compared to the control group. Besides, the MEAH also found to possess marked aphrodisiac activity complying several facets such as an increase in the sexual performance at the highest dose (400 mg/kg, p.o.) as well as the orientation toward female mice (p<0.001) at all tested doses. CONCLUSION Taken together, MEAH can be recommended as a potent source of neuroprotective and a libido-boosting drug candidate for the management of neurological and sexual disorders.

Exact solution of the Surface-Volume-Surface Electric Field Integral Equation (SVS-EFIE) is presented for the problem of radiation in the vicinity of homogeneous dielectric sphere. The solution is obtained via Galerkin Method of Moments (MoM) utilizing rotational and irrotational complete sets of orthogonal vector spherical harmonics as basis and test functions according to the Helmholtz decomposition. In the case of radial or tangential electric dipole radiation the electric field throughout the sphere evaluated via analytic MoM solution of the SVS-EFIE is compared against the exact classical Mie series solution. The two are shown to agree to 12 digits of accuracy upon sufficient number of basis/test functions taken in the MoM solution and the Mie series expansion. The exact solution confirms and validates the rigorous nature of the SVS-EFIE formulation. It also reveals the spectral properties of its individual operators, their products and their linear combination, as well as the spectrum of the MoM impedance matrix. It is shown that upon choosing basis and test functions in Sobolev space Hdiv1/2(S) and performing testing inner products evaluation in the space Hdiv-1/2(S), S being the surface of the sphere, the MoM impedance matrix features bounded condition number with increasing order of discretization similar with analogous exact MoM solution of the surface EFIE on perfectly electrically conducting (PEC) sphere.

Nanotechnology has enabled the use of Nanosized devices for various purposes i.e. biological, industrial, and military and especially in communication field.By using graphene the antennas can be implemented in nano scale. And the miniature antennas would work more efficiently than the conventional antennas. The miniature device can transmit data in terabyte scale. Conventional antennas would require very high frequency which is quite unfeasible. But the slower movement of electrons in graphene would enable the grapheme nano antennas to operate at a feasible frequency.[1][2]. In this paper we designed, Graphene nano ribbon based antenna that would operate in terahertz band and investigatedits radiation characteristics in the 2.45-2.98 THz band. The proposed antennas are also compared with the conventional antennas operating in terahertz band. The antenna is simulated by using the finite element method based simulator -CST (computer simulation technology).

ABSTRACT We present results from Raman-scattering experiments on GaN layers grown on GaAs and sapphire. In the low-energy region between 95 cm-1 and 250 cm-1 a series of sharp lines appear which decreases exponentially in intensity with increasing temperature. The lines disappear when reaching room temperature. Wavelength-dependent measurements reveal that they are strongest under excitation at around 514.5 nm. Raman-scattering experiments at high pressures up to 6 GPa show that neither their energies nor their resonance profile vary remarkably with pressure indicating that they are not connected to the bandgap. Comparitive measurements on different substrates show that these lines are exclusively present in GaN layers grown on GaAs.

This work deals with the design and simulation of a passive radio frequency identification (RFID) tag antenna operating in ISM band. The antenna has an impedance bandwidth of 60 MHz (2419MHz - 2479 MHz) resonant at 2449.5 MHz. The microstrip antenna has a planar geometry and consists of a ground plane, a substrate, a modified rectangular patch as a radiator. The proposed antenna provides excellent SWR of 1.0435 and a gain of 3.351 dB. The possible adjustment over the entire ISM band is demonstrated by adjusting a single branch. The basic theory and design are analyzed, and the simulation results are obtained using CST Microwave Studio commercial software is employed to optimize the antenna's properties.

We proposed and demonstrated an efficient method to split electromagnetic wave in two dimensional photonic crystal by using a T-shaped splitter. By measuring normalized electromagnetic field, it is shown that the equal outputs of splitter can be limited and controlled by using a control rod which position can be varied. It is also showed that the output of two ports can be unequal and it can be controlled by varying the position of control rod.
