A comparison of croton 'Baisom' (Codiaeum variegatum (L.) Bl. 'Baisom') leaves under different light intensity conditions, a high light intensity at an average of 640 µmol m-2s-1 and a low light intensity at an average of 25 µmol m-2s-1, was undertaken in leaves that were mature before the light treatment, as well as the leaves that developed to maturation under the provided light intensity conditions. Light intensity significantly affected the leaf morphology, anatomy, and chlorophyll content of the new leaves developing during the light treatment, but it affected only the chlorophyll content in the ones that were mature before the light treatment. The new leaves, developing in the high light intensity, showed lower leaf area and chlorophyll content but higher specific leaf weight, when compared to the same-aged leaves developing in low light conditions. Thicker new leaves were observed in the plants grown under high light intensity. These data were supported by lea...
