Many studies adopted the concept of green communication as a solution to the environmental problems in communication networks, especially study of the challenges of green communication in the smart grid has been reviewed. Moreover, cognitive networks and network coding in the last ten years are presented. The study also produces the opportunities of green communication as a solution to overcome the environmental communication problems.
