The end of the Cold War does not mean that there is no longer a balance of power at the global level. It’s just that it is no longer political ideology that dominates the world, but rather it is capitalist dogma. The entire world is concentrated on net profits, turnover, stock market results, and dividends. Citizens do not have enemies, they have competitors. The state is no longer the main player on the arena, it has retreated to companies who are more and more at the forefront. The whole world is becoming a huge web, all thanks to the Internet and globalization. The computer world now influences all spheres of human life, including the economy and the need to harvest and exploit intelligence faster than the competing country has become paramount.

Research shows that the proper design and effective use of CPTED principles can lead to reduced opportunities for crime and an equally reduced sense of fear that these acts inspire. The goal of CPTED is a reduction of opportunities for crime to occur. Accordingly, through their involvement in the design, project teams composed of architects, planners, security professionals and hospital staff can influence the establishment of a safer and more secure hospital.

The United States has been waging war against terrorism ever since September 11, however, “In 2014, terrorist attacks increased 39 percent over the previous year, while the number of fatalities caused by terrorist attacks went up 83 percent.”  (Brooks, 2015).  Are the United States counter-terrorism strategies failing?

This paper discusses the activities carried out by an EP Team of three, prior to conducting a covert executive protection mission deep in the Russian Federation. The Principal is a small-arms manufacturer/trader looking to expand his business by meeting a Russian competitor in Central Russia, 1,200 miles from Moscow. The team dressed a risk profile for the principal and the destination, conducted threat assessments on both, recommended protection options, considered executive protection principles, developed complex trip choreography and trip itineraries, did advance work on airports, hotels, airlines, routes, meeting venue, and ground and air transportation, and established contingency plans for each. Intricate planning was involved in designing and organizing a trip with multiple flight connections, complete on the ground advance work, multiple EP tactics including counter surveillance activities, and continuous contingency and emergency planning.  Contingency countermeasures varied from risks as simple as missing a flight connection to serious events such as kidnapping and murder. The paper is a case study that covers all necessary executive protection activities and events leading up to the actual mission.
