Food environment of an individual is characterized by the ‘availability of food’ and ‘affordability of food’. The latter determines the type of food available that is nutritious or non-nutritious nature of food while former determines the access to food in terms of purchasing power of people. These two components of food environment collectively play a major role in determining the food and nutritional security of any region. Country like India is characterized by the disparity in income-levels, demography and development. Likewise, India is characterized by regions with varying degree of ‘food security’ and ‘nutritional security’. The present research article discusses the concept of ‘food environment’ in perspective of urban India. Further, the present research study investigates that how the above-mentioned concepts helpful in identifying the regions with food security and nutritional security or both. The study is based on secondary data collected from various governmental and n...

Cachexia is a multifactorial wasting syndrome most common in patients with cancer that is characterized by the uncontrolled loss of adipose and muscle mass. We show that the inhibition of lipolysis through genetic ablation of adipose triglyceride lipase (Atgl) or hormone-sensitive lipase (Hsl) ameliorates certain features of cancer-associated cachexia (CAC). In wild-type C57BL/6 mice, the injection of Lewis lung carcinoma or B16 melanoma cells causes tumor growth, loss of white adipose tissue (WAT), and a marked reduction of gastrocnemius muscle. In contrast, Atgl-deficient mice with tumors resisted increased WAT lipolysis, myocyte apoptosis, and proteasomal muscle degradation and maintained normal adipose and gastrocnemius muscle mass. Hsl-deficient mice with tumors were also protected although to a lesser degree. Thus, functional lipolysis is essential in the pathogenesis of CAC. Pharmacological inhibition of metabolic lipases may help prevent cachexia.

From the vantage point of radical potentiality of revolutionaries who emerged in the last two centuries, the position of Malcolm X stands out unique. Precipitating the idea of Social Justice, revolutionaries put forwarded ideas and action plans in different manners across the globe, with the goal of liberation and emancipation from oppression of their living hegemonic societies and structures. Malcolm X is exceptional for his distinctive transcending position of projecting Islam as true potential for liberation, among the binary oppositions all revolutionaries had made in his time.

Since 1947, never had post-independent India experienced such a public anti-government outrage and dissent voices. Peaceful protests and brutal state crackdown is happening across India after Parliament passed Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA). The law has been contemplated even by United Nations and International Media as blatantly Islamophobic in nature. The National Register of Citizens (NRC) along with CAA raises a real existential crisis for Muslims of India as when it gets implemented, will take away their citizenship merely because of their faith.

India saw the biggest movement it has witnessed in the recent times when the Indian Parliament passed the Constitutional Amendment Act on December 11, 2019. The protests initially erupted in Assam and West Bengal and later spread itself to minority universities of Jamia Millia Islamia and Aligarh Muslim University. The state, through its little brainwashed, khaki puppets, responded in the most barbaric fashion— lathi charging and assault, tear gas shells, gunshots and what not. This brutal crackdown by the Delhi Police on University students further pushed the people of Jamia Nagar to erupt into the biggest movement India had seen since its “Independence”— the rise of Shaheen Bagh, with their women at the forefront.
