The purpose of this project is to develop an Automatic gate control application which recognizes license plates from cars at entrance gate and take an action to let cars enter or not.  And regular PC with camera, catches image frame when a car is detected, the camera takes a picture of the car. The picture is then sent to the MATLAB to filter unwanted noise (illumination, blur) etc. leaving the characters of the number plate. The characters can then be identified using algorithm to recognition the characters With number plates coming in various shapes, sizes, fonts and colors, the algorithms needs to be refined to increase its efficiency. Most of the research on system targets hardware that uses programming by (MATLAB) and  processing such as microprocessors and microcontroller in our project we uses components to interface  them together in  our project  (MATLAB, Arduino , camera, mechanical design,).

In this paper an evaluation study of OFDM in RoF is carried out with the use of integration between the Optiwave Opti-system product and MATLAB platforms simulation. The optical network scenario of high frequency 2.5 GHz is modeled using the Opti-system software, with addition to apply the orthogonal frequency division multiplexing to the 4-QAM modulated RF signal with the MATLAB integrated transmitter and receiver scripts with the help of MATLAB library of the Opti-system platform. In the optical domain, two optical modulators are used to carry out different results as a comparison;these optical modulators are the ideal phase modulator and the Mach-Zehnder modulator with different fiber lengths. This paper can also be considered as a review study of OFDM-ROF systems, which it combined multiple points of the cited related work to implement and evaluation of this issue.

In this paper we will study the architecture of the Long Term Evolution LTE of Universal Mobile Telecommunication System UMTS with Multi User Multiple Input Multiple Output MU-MIMO technique. Open-Loop Spatial Multiplexing OLSM is one of nine transmission modes in LTE networks, in OLSM transmissions are configured with minimal feedback from the UE; we will consider OLSM in this study while performing three different types of scheduling algorithms that are used in LTE. The implementation of this study will use MATLAB software with LTE system level simulation, and results will collected for UE’s throughputs and compared with each other for the different types of schedulers and with different antenna configurations such as 2x2, 2x4, and 4x4.

In this paper we will introduce a comprehensive study based on LTE techniques that are used in order to eliminate or reduce different types of interferences that happens in the wireless communication channel and affect the received signal at receivers which associated with channel equalization techniques by comparing between three different techniques which are the Zero Forcing ZF, the Minimum Mean Square Error MMSE and the Soft Sphere Decoding SSD. Also different types of modulations are considered such as QPSK, 16QAM, and 64QAM. The comparison is performed for different transmission modes such as SISO, SIMO, and MIMO. And the results show that for SISO and MIMO the MMSE has the advantage over the ZF equalizer, and in SIMO the ZF is performing better than the MMSE, and finally for the MIMO we figure that the SSD equalizer has advantage over both other equalizers.

In this paper we will investigate and evaluate coverage extension strategy that used in in 3G Universal Mobile Telecommunication System  UMTS, which used in 3G networks planning and optimization level for coverage and Radio Frequency RF extension or as called “hole-filling”. Such as isolated areas or indoor environments that suffer from poor signal or poor SINR repeaters are the common solution of this issue in cellular system networks, these repeater cells are developed as small cell technology.
We will use OPNET modeler to simulate the UMTS network and analyze the performance of the network with and without the over air repeaters, considering outdoor to indoor pedestrian environment for path loss model with minimum shadow fading standard deviation value, and results shows that the enhancement effects in throughput and voice application traffic statistics.

DVB-RCS  satellite  networks  pose  a  challenging environment for IP telephony  due to the link conditions  of long delays  and  low bandwidth as  well as  the  diversity  of network scenarios.  We have designed an architecture for providing flexible QoS provisioning under these conditions.  The  architecture addresses  flow detection,  admission  control  and  user notification in this heterogeneous  environment where it is not always possible to  take  active  part  in  call  signaling  and  endpoint  cooperation cannot  be relied upon. We have developed and tested a prototype implementation of parts  of the architecture which indicated  that scalability  will not  be  limited  by  processing  speed  or  memory usage up to the data  rates  encountered in satellite  links.

The gain flatness of erbium-doped fiber amplifier (EDFA) is a key device for wavelength division multiplexing (WDM) application in modern optical network systems. The purpose of this paper is to correct the gain non-uniformity for each channel in order to equalize the amplitude gain in a wavelength division multiplexing (WDM) system. The system is simulated using Optisystem software to achieve gain flatness of EDFA through optimized fiber length and pump power. The gains are flattened within 24±0.299dB from 1546nm to 1558nm band of wavelength with noise figure (NF) <6dB and bit error rate (BER) <10-9 for 16-channels simultaneous amplification in a single stage EDFA. A WDM system which includes an EDFA is modeled and obtained maximum uniformed gains.

The major purpose of this paper is to compare two important parameters of QoS between two communication technologies which are UMTS and WiMAX, the comparison based on the VoIP application as the main traffic flow of the two networks. The voice applications over IP networks are growing rapidly due to their increasing popularity. To meet the demand of providing high-quality of VoIP at anytime and from anywhere, it is imperative to design suitable QoS model. In this paper we conduct simulation study to evaluate the QoS performance of WiMAX and UMTS with support of VoIP traffic. We designed simulation  modules in OPNET  for WiMAX and UMTS each one in a separated scenario, and carried out extensive results to evaluate and analyze  several  important and common  performance metrics  such  as  end-to-end  delay and  packet  delay  variation.  Simulation results show that WiMAX outscores the UMTS with a sufficient margin, and is the better technology to support VoIP applications compared with UMTS.

In this paper we use the OPNET modeler software to evaluate the Tunneling between IPv4 and IPv6 routing protocols, we create two scenarios in one topology the difference is based on the MDRR QoS profile. In the first scenario we used different TOS for each pair of clients and each pair uses different protocol, in the second scenario all the clients has the same TOS. The result shows that the two protocols can coexist without any problems. The migration from IPv4 to IPv6 must be implemented node by node by using auto-configuration procedures to eliminate the need to configure IPv6 hosts manually.

In this project study of the LTE and its architecture is considered and understand the mechanism of QoS deployment in LTE which introduce the main concept of traffic classification.
A simulation based study is performed in OPNET by deploying a WiMAX network model that performs the same mechanism of QoS in LTE. The simulation considers a simple network topology with three traffic source and destination each of them uses different application the QoS configuration is applied by defining three different classes that are Gold, Silver, Bronze. And the applications used is the HTTP, VoIP, and Video conference. And then the evaluation is performed by comparing the result with QoS and without. And from the simulation result it's obvious that QoS mechanism represent the solution of future needs of networking and communication.
