THE IMPORTANCE OF TOURIST GUIDES PERFORMANCE FOR PROMOTION OF CAPADOCCIA REGION

Tourist guides are one of the most important and qualified employees of travel agencies. In this study, it is revealed that the performance features of tourist guides were the key factors of Cappadocia Regions promotion. The data of the research, gathered through questionnaire, composing certain scales which were developed by a large number of researchers before. The questionnaires applied by drop-collect method and conducted on the 4th - 18th of April 2015. Within the two weeks, it was reached 450 questionnaire practicable surveys. For the statistical analyses, from descriptive explanatory factor were benefited. As a result; for the performance features of tour guide five factors  have been found.  Within the four group of internal factors are occupational responsibilities, personal qualification, professional competence and responsibilities; and the external factors are management and organization.

Academicians and Tourist Guide Associations

Abstract: Tourist guides introduced as promotional ambassadors for their country.
These professonalists have faced hard working conditions, lacked of legal assurance
for long years, this caused a negative reputation in terms of performing their job.
But eventually “Tourist Guiding Professional Law-6326” was enacted by the
struggle of Professional Tourist Guide Associations. However it has also brought
about discussions and disapprovals in terms of occupational relief. The main aim of
this research is to find out these disapprovals and the effectiveness of the Law in
terms of solving the current problems. For this aim, open-ended question forms have
been sent to the Academicians of Tourism Guidance Departments and the Tourist
Guide Association Members. Suggestions were developed from the research
findings. It is believed that the results of the study could contribute the
rearrangement of future legislations, protection of the rights and enhancement the
proffession in Turkey.
