As Europe experienced an unprecedented mass inflow of refugees and asylum seekers in 2015 since World War II, research on the demographic trends of refugees’ main countries of origin has also become important. To provide relevant information for this debate, the paper identifies the demographic tendencies of the six main countries of origin in Asia and Africa – Syria, Iraq, Afghanistan, Somalia, Nigeria, and Eritrea – for the EU’s 28 member states by the number of asylum applicants between 2008 and 2016. First, basic demographic indicators (e.g. total fertility rate [TFR] and life expectancy) of these six countries are analysed. Then, the changing share of the young (15–19) and retiring (55–59) male age groups – referred to as the demographic war index (DWI) – in these six countries and major regions of the world are compared. Finally, by examining the spatial distribution of the global refugee population and armed conflicts, the research aims to reveal the relevance of the DWI.

ABSTRACT The migration is one of the most current topic in the European Union and in this tendency the Turks were once the most active nation with millions of migrants nowdays over the member states. This article's aim is to reveal their status in the United Kingdom (especially in London) from the viewpoint of social geography. In the course of this, their concentration within the country and the capital city, their labour market and educational status, their migrational preferencies, their use of language and their religious views are in the focus of the research. In this way we will be given a picture of this segment of the migration and integration processes happening recently in the United Kingdom through the aspect of a relatively long existing immigrant community.

Abstract
This study provides a short introduction to the ehtnic Turkish minorities which settled down during the Ottoman ages and are still living in the Balkan peninsula’s following five countries: Bulgaria, Greece, Romania, Macedonia and Kosovo. This article deals not only with the historcial similarities and particularities of the aspect of the different countries but among others, about their living territories within the certain states, about their educational and labour market conditions, about the representation in politics and culture (for ex. religion, media) together with Turkey’s foreign policy and foreign economy relations with the mentioned lands of the Balkans. The aim of it is, above clerifying the contitions of the scattered or blockliving Turkish minorities, the limilation of Turkey’s geopolitical ambitions to the Balkans considering the relationship between the minority and the given state.
