Under the impact of a wide range of forces, the prices of globally traded commodities often experience sudden and significant fluctuations, putting under uncertainty and risk the economic status of producers, consumers and traders from the private to the national level. The purpose of this paper is represented by the assessment of Romanian agricultural outlook between 1918 and 1940, in the manner in which it was reflected in the economic thinking of the time. Our purpose is to investigate the economic literature – concentrating primarily on the research undertaken by the professor Gheorghe N. Leon – in order to emphasize the strengths and the shortcomings of the Romanian agricultural environment in the interwar period. The results revealed certain mutations suffered by the Romanian agricultural structure, offering both favourable and unfavourable perspectives with regard to Romania’s situation and potential, compared with other European economies.

The economic development is not exclusively a contemporary reality but a feature of historical systems and eras in general. This aspect was also observed by Romanian economic school representatives, like Mihail Manoilescu, Gheorghe N. Leon, N.P. Arcadian. The present paper aims to be an insight into the issue of investment and industrialization – factors of economic development – of interwar Romania.

For decades, the problem of governmental intervention on the markets provoked significant debates, representing even nowadays a controversial matter. A prevailing form of intervention is represented by subsidies. Although subsidies are regularly used by less-developed countries to stimulate exports, they are not forgotten by the advanced economies. From several examples of controversies generated by subsidy use, we examine in this paper “The Boeing-Airbus war”. For a decade, US and EU are accusing each other of “helping” the aircraft producers through governmental funds. We try to see who is right, what are the arguments, and if there will be a winner.

The temporal existence of human society’s economic performance, although upward and continuous, cannot be seen as linear because the phases of prosperity are succeed by economic regression, giving a certain cyclicity to the evolution of the society. The causes of cyclicity and economic crisis have endogenous and / or exogenous origins. In this paper, we want to evaluate only the validity of political endogenous factors and their influence on the national economic performance. The case study is made on Romania, more exactly the post-December-rist election cycles. This work aims to analyze the effects induced by the measures promoted by various governments regarding the employment at the macroeconomic level in Romania. Lessons learned will be linked with theoretical issues on economic cyclicity promoted by Arthur Spiethoff , endeavoring to find a possible correlation between the governmental economic policy and the macroeconomic environment.

In a global market characterized by the trend of saving non-renewable resources, recycling has become one of the key factors that alleviates the rarity of resources and preserves existing ones. One of the largest industries that consumes natural resources is the automotive industry. This includes not only resource consumption but also the environmental effects of each new unit produced in this industry. As a result, recycling end-of-life vehicles has become an increasingly obvious and widespread concern. This paper proposes a preliminary analysis of the dismantling/recycling activities in Romania compared to other economies (e.g., USA). It aims to determine the impact that dismantling end-of-life vehicles has, according to the legislation in the field, on the economy and the environment. In order to obtain a complete picture, it is obvious that further research is needed.
