Procedure: The patients who systematically encounter the psycho-oncologist were compared to a control group. Anxio-depression symptoms and the patients’ perception of the psychologist were assessed on two occasions: at the time of diagnosis and 4 months later, during treatment. Results: On the overall group, we failed to observe significant differences between conditions about the perception of the psychologist, but gender was a critical factor associated with both perception of the psychologist and further psychological consultations. Those men who met a psychologist soon after diagnosis continued to meet the psychologist to a far greater extent than those in the control group. Conversely, women pursued psychological support whether they had encountered the psychologist or not. Conclusion: Results indicate that an encounter with the psychologist can be helpful to elicit interest in a psychological support, especially for men.

Informal caregiving is a pillar of long-term healthcare. Informal caregivers often report difficulties when providing care, especially in terms of exhaustion, which can be compared to forms of burnout. Yet, there is no systematic inventory of studies comparing caregivers and non-caregivers regarding burnout.
Methods
For the present meta-analysis, studies from online databases were screened and included if they were written in French or English, compared burnout in informal caregivers and non-caregivers and reported or provided enough information to compute effect sizes.
Results
Two different setscategories of studies investigating burnout were includedfound: those on informal care burnout and those on professional burnoutstudies focusing on caring burnout (parent or spouse) and studies on professional burnout. For caring burnout studies, caregivers reported more emotional exhaustion, and, to a lesser extent, depersonalization and reduced personal accomplishment than non-caregivers. For studies on professional burnout, workers providing informal care also reported more emotional exhaustion than workers not providing such a care. Overall, the results points indicate that providing informal care represents a risk for role burnout.
Discussion
The present results showed an increase of role burnout when providing informal care. In caring burnout studies, these results confirm the assumption that providing informal care adds extra weight on the individuals’ shoulders. In professional burnout, these results support the role accumulation theory, pointing that an additional weight in one’s role, i.e., providing informal care, has an impact of another role, work.
Conclusion and implications
The present work outlines the importance to consider informal caregiving when building an understanding ofstudying or intervening on different forms of burnout. Beyond this, it also paves the way to consider an informal caregiving burnout, the adaptation of burnout to informal caregiving contexts.

Abstract : During the last Century, grief reactions and processes have been increasingly perceived and conceptualized as « ab-normal », i.e., pathological when they are unusual, too prolonged or too short-lived, too intense or not enough. The word “grief” in French etimologically speaking comes from suffering (dolere) and our society wants happiness, control, and efficacy. Grief thus needs to be “treated”. However, grief exists because it is the cost of the essential attachment between human beings, an attachment that has phylogenetically and ontologically been selected for our survival and development. The humanistic, person-centred and experiential perspective, allows to consider grief reactions and processes in a more comprehensive, humane, idiosyncratic manner. In this article, beyond a short summary of the theoretical and empirical developments in this field, I will present the scientific elements that sustain a person-centred perspective that anyone can live privately and/or professionally. Evidence-based, it appears as more respectful of intra- and inter-individual diversities, taking the person holistically and intervening through the quality of the relationship with the other. An authentic, respectful, empathic, flexible, and warm caregiver humanizes the other and the care that she will provide at the same time as replying to the societal criteria of expected efficacy.

This model postulates that extremely anxious or avoidant attachment disturbs the oscillation process by focusing more on one type of strategy, either LO or RO. The present study examined this assumption. We recruited 321 bereaved individuals who had lost a romantic partner. Our results showed that less negative appraisal of bereavement-related stressors, as well as higher use of RO strategies, mediated the link between attachment avoidance and low severity of grief reactions. However, the DPM variables were not found to mediate the link between attachment anxiety and elevated grief reactions. We discuss how these results provide an empirical basis of the DPM.

The authors investigated whether deficits in cognitive inhibition were related to such a dysfunctional process. Inhibition was examined among 61 low- or high-ruminating bereaved partners in a negative affective priming task with grief-related negative and positive words. Results revealed impaired inhibition for grief-related information in comparison with negative and positive information in bereaved individuals with elevated rumination. When accounting for differences in grief reactions, the present findings did not however confirm the hypothesis of a direct link between variations in inhibition performances and rumination. Implications for future research and clinical perspectives are discussed.

To address this under-investigated topic, the Inventory of Complicated Grief was used in five groups of bereaved participants (N = 1,105) that differed in their family relationship with the deceased (child, spouse/romantic partner, sibling, parent, and grand-parent). Results identified kinship relationship as the variable that predicted the highest amount of variance in the intensity of CG (Standardized β = -.55), above other predictors such as gender, time since loss or circumstances of death. More importantly, distinct profiles of CG reactions were found depending on kinship. These results highlight kinship as a major predictor of CG and open a new line of research that serves to clarify the role of kinship along with other risk factors.

Using Wegner's thought-suppression paradigm, bereaved participants with low and high rumination were asked to suppress painful thoughts about their loss. High ruminators were found to be less able to suppress grief-related, negative, and positive words in comparison with low ruminators. In addition, they were found less able to suppress negative representations in comparison with grief-related and neutral ones. Deficits in thought suppression during bereavement are discussed in terms of their implications for ruminative processes.

The results indicated that, after one year of bereavement, (1) the most frequent stressors were oriented to the loss of the spouse, (2) specific coping strategies were used and found effective to deal with specific types of stressors, (3) stressors were sometimes dealt with using several successive strategies or no strategy at all, and (4) clusters of stressors and strategies were associated with specific moments of appearance during the day.

Carl Rogers, founder of the person-centered and experiential psychotherapy, defined six necessary and sufficient conditions for a positive personality modification, or in other words, for a psychotherapeutic change. These six conditions are being in interpersonal contact, experiencing an internal conflict, vulnerability or anxiety for the patient, for the therapist, developing one’s congruence, unconditional positive regard, and empathy and being perceived by the patient. Deepening these conditions with patients suffering from psychosis, both theoretically and through clinical examples, shows that they are similar and all the more fundamental given their symptomatology. Rogers affirms the universality of these conditions beyond the intrinsic difference specific to each person. People with psychotic symptoms do not derogate from this principle.
