Traditionally, the researchers have accepted the thesis that the monarch was deified during his life. However, this statement may not be entirely true if we analyze the main classical sources. Therefore, this article aims to analyze the alleged cults that appeared in Asia Minor in the last years of Alexander's life and in the study of his legendary death, in order to determine if he was deified in life or if this process is not began until his death following the Greek model.
