The virtual business work flow depends on the information quality (IQ) which is essential attribute of information. The IQ depends strongly on organization of the information system (IS) and how the information is processed. In our approach we incorporate the four-aspect representation of IQ: (1) intrinsic, (2) contextual, (3) representational, and (4) accessibility. These four-aspects are divided into several criteria at the next level of hierarchy. The weights, representing the relative importance of criteria, have been assessed by pair-wise comparisons made by group of experts. Based on discussion with experts, six alternative strategies, that could be used for improving the IQ, were designed. For each given criterion, the group of subjects revealed the opinion about the level of achievement of every alternative. The set of scores, assigned to the alternative by different subjects, formed the discrete distribution that is used for a comparison of alternatives with the aid of stochastic dominances. In analogy to the Electre I methodology, the simple algorithm for the aggregate evaluation of analyzed alternatives was proposed. The benefits of proposed approach were demonstrated in a case study of the semiconductor industry. The results of our study suggest, that in case of matured company, the external strategies, that point out to the information exchange and strategic networked alliance with customers and suppliers, are preferred to the internal ones. The latter ones might be of greater importance for the new set up or for a young company.

The WINGS method has been derived from DEMATEL and can be widely used as a structural model for analysis of intertwined factors and causal relations between them. Its novelty comes from an idea of including in one mathematical mechanism both strength (importance) and influence of the system components. In particular, WINGS can be applied as the MCDA method for evaluating alternatives when interrelations between criteria cannot be neglected. For the problem with independent criteria, WINGS reproduces the additive aggregation of preferences, a classical method in MCDA.► We introduce Weighted Influence Non-linear Gage System – WINGS. ► WINGS is a structural model for the systems of interrelated components. ► WINGS considers both strength (importance) and influence of the system components. ► WINGS can be also applied as the MCDA method with dependencies. ► For independent criteria WINGS reduces to the additive aggregation method.

Selecting the proper set of innovation projects is the vital point of
the innovation management in a firm. To make a good decision, managers have to consider many conflicting objectives in a highly uncertain environment. In this article, the comprehensive decision procedure based on scenario planning and multiple criteria analysis is presented. The main part of the procedure is a two-step model in which Hurwicz’s rule and VIKOR-S method are employed to gain the selection of alternatives. To build up the decision base, the classification of the criteria involved in the innovation project selection into five categories is proposed.

Technology-intensive firms need to organize their R&D on a global scale. This is an important and complicated task that requires an explicit model and a thorough evaluation. Due to the complexity of the decisions about the global R&D organization and interrelations among the underlying issues, a structural approach is recommended. A detailed study of global R&D projects presented in the literature is used for structuring the problem with the aid of cognitive mapping. Based on this, two qualitative approaches: the Roberts model and the WINGS method are applied to and the most suitable solution.

The literature on the activities of public relations (PR) is getting richer. Also, numerous empirical studies on the PR process, methods and techniques are conducted, as well as analyses on the effectiveness of PR and ethics in this field. There is a relatively small number of studies that examine decision-making processes by PR practitioners. Despite numerous discussions on the issue of decision-making, methods of decision making in public relations are not a subject of research and debate. Most decisions in this area are probably made unsystematically and in a very individual way. However, the introduction of effective methods, proven in other areas, which support decision making practice related to communication processes , can help to improve efficiency and effectiveness of the organization in the field of building relationships with the stakeholders. The authors show how the use of cognitive maps and the WINGS method can help PR consultants to choose a PR strategy in situations which can seriously jeopardize the organization's reputation.
