O objetivo do presente estudo foi verificar o nível de atividade física e a sua correlação com comportamentos sedentários de crianças no 1 º ano do Ensino Fundamental de escolas de uma cidade do sul do Brasil. Para isso, foi determinada uma amostra representativa de crianças do primeiro ano do Ensino Fundamental das escolas públicas e privadas. Para obter os dados do Nível de Atividade Física (NAF) foi utilizado o questionário “Dia Típico de Atividade Física e Alimentação” (DAFA). Dados sobre o número médio de horas diárias em frente à televisão/vídeo game ou computador foram obtidos por meio de um questionário enviado aos pais. O resultado obtido com a amostra de 273 crianças (131 meninos e 142 meninas) com idade média de 6,33 anos de 12 escolas (5 estaduais, 4 municipais e 3 particulares) mostrou um baixo nível de atividade física (36,49±19,06) e não houve diferença significativa entre as redes d...
Objective To investigate the influence of a concurrent physical training (CT) on the carotid inti... more Objective To investigate the influence of a concurrent physical training (CT) on the carotid intima-media thickness (IMT) and vascular age (VA) of individuals with metabolic syndrome (MS). Method Twelve sedentary volunteers (51,50 ± 6,52 years old) were submitted to a CT during 30 weeks, three times per week. Before and after the CT, were analyzed anthropometric, functional and biochemical variables. It was performed a two-dimensional ultrasound for carotid IMT and the quantification and comparison of carotid IMT of participants was named VA. The difference between VA and chronological age was named age's delta and the Framingham risk score was calculated. Furthermore, it was calculated the modified Framingham risk score (MFS), replacing chronological age for VA. Results The carotid IMT, the VA, the age's delta and the Framingham score did not decrease significantly after 30 weeks of CT. However, the scoring in MFS decreased after the intervention (p < 0.05).
