Systematically excluded from the semiotics with logical, formal, orthogonal pretensions, the body has been gradually introduced into semiotic discourse, with all its materiality and sensitivity: perception, cognition, action, passion, phoria, tensivity. The risk, however, it is to consider the body as a primitive and founding element of the semiotic process, when it is itself, in any case and a fortiori in the case of semiotics, a highly problematic notion that designates at the same time an “object” we feel, know, interpret, and determine in a cultural way. In other words: more than a hinge or element of junction between phisis and episteme, between perception and culture, the human body is a semiotically constructed object. What we know (and what we did learn) about it, how we represent it, how we take care of it and modify it, how we study it, in which natural or cultural order we ascribe it: all factors that intervene in the individual and social fixation of certain bodily forms and experiences.
We will study here the treatment of the words of Eros in a select corpus of specialized lexicographic and encyclopedic repertoires (Lo Duca’s Enciclopedia ilustrada de sexología y erotismo; Camilo José Cela’s Enciclopedia del erotismo; Amando de Miguel’s El sexo de nuestros abuelos, and Félix Rodríguez González’s Diccionario del sexo y el erotismo), in order to clarify the semiotic and cultural strategies that have guided the authors in the attempt to organize the materials of knowledge related to erotic activity. The analyzed words are: amor, coito, cópula, erotismo, fornicación, heterosexualidad, homosexualidad, libido, lujuria, pornografía, seducción, sexo, sexualidad, transexualidad, voluptuosidad.
The goal of this paper is to study and describe the theoretic foundations of the Cours de linguistique générale, by F. de Saussure (1st ed.: 1916). More specifically, we will study here, at first, the dichotomous use, in the Cours, of the notions of form and substance and of potency and act and, at second, the Saussurean treatment of the notion of meaning (i. e.: signified).
We want to study here the "words of Eros" in Spanish, from a synchronic and diachronic point of view, with the aim of underlining the defining and semiotic strategies through which the official culture tries to organize the materials of knowledge related with the erotic activity. We will analyse, therefore, in a selected corpus of academic and no academic dictionaries of language, the lexicographical definitions registered for the following words: amor, coito, cópula, erotismo, fornicación, heterosexualidad, homosexualidad, libido, lujuria, pornografía, seducción, sexo, sexualidad, transexualidad and voluptuosidad.
Abstract: The goal of this paper is to analyze those intertextual relations that allow us to understand the genesis of the systemic dimension of Iuri Lotman's semiotics of text and culture. These relations can be divided into two main groups: 1) the theoretical legacy of structuralism and of Russian formalism (and, in general, of Slavic semiotics); 2) the influence of other systemic disciplines, as cybernetics or physics of dissipative structures. Palabras clave: Lotman. Semiótica. Cultura. Pensamiento sistémico.
Abstract: This paper proposes a systemic analysis of notions of «text» and «culture». More specifically, through theories such as Semiotics of Culture, Polysystem Theory and Sociocriticism, it highlights the systemic dimension that characterizes the cultural phenomena and processes.
