Upon arrival to ASU, he has had the honor of receiving a SILC Graduate Fellowship, a TAship, and an RAship, which have allowed him to closely work as a research assistant with Dr. David W. Foster and teach Spanish classes to undergraduate students, both in the beginning and the advance level. In addition to that, he has participated in the development of the Spanish as a Heritage Language Program. Within this program, he has helped to organize a bi-annual undergraduate conference in which the students have had the opportunity to develop their academic and professional skills.
As a graduate student, he has been an active member in service, helping to recover, reposition and maintain the Spanish Graduate student journal at ASU (Circunloquios). He has participated in three different Spanish annual graduate conferences, serving in their committees and in the 2014-2015 Conference he was the organizing co-chair.
In 2016-17 he was chosen to serve as the president of the Spanish Graduate Student Association (SPAGrad), and as vice-president of Sigma Delta Pi, a Spanish National Honor Society. In the Summer of 2016 he received a scholarship for a two week summer school program in the University of Graz in Austria. There, he had the opportunity to interact with students and professors from different countries and areas of research. This experience has enriched his research project by providing an international and interdisciplinary perspective.
Outside of the School of International Letters and Cultures, he has collaborated with other programs in organizing educational events, including El Concilio (in the planning of Hispanic Heritage Month), the School of Transborder Studies, and the Arizona Center of Medieval and Renaissance Studies (in the planning of presentations and professional development workshops).edit - Dr. David W. La extensa obra literaria de Darío Ruiz Gómez (1936- ) se ha visto influenciada por su labor como urbanista y crítico de la ciudad.
