This paper will investigate the integration of technology in teaching and research among teachers and researchers in higher education institutions. The aim of this study is to identify and examine the main factors that may affect the willingness of teachers and researchers to integrate technology into their research and teaching.
The study was conducted by examining two teachers’ training courses, which were taught online at a University in Argentina. Those courses were attended by 48 higher education teachers and researchers.
One of the main findings is that a certain change has taken place between the feelings on integrating technology in teaching and research expressed by the participants, at the beginning of the courses and at their end. I will suggest that “personal-experiential factors” are one of the main factors which may increase teachers’ willingness to integrate technology in teaching.
In addition, I will argue that teachers’ perception of technology was influenced by the “Blended Learning Model”, given that the combination of theory and practice, synchronous and asynchronous access, and the variety of teaching tools, was highlighted by participants as highly important.

Resumen
En este trabajo nos proponemos analizar la problemática de la integración de las tecnologías en la enseñanza y en la investigación, entre docentes e investigadores pertenecientes a instituciones de enseñanza superior. El objetivo de la investigación es identificar los factores centrales que influyen en la predisposición de docentes e investigadores a integrar tecnologías en la enseñanza y en la investigación.
Esta investigación se llevó a cabo mediante el seguimiento de dos cursos de capacitación en línea, para docentes de nivel superior de una universidad en la República Argentina, de los cuales participaron 48 docentes e investigadores.
Entre los resultados de la investigación, se visualiza un cambio en las concepciones de los participantes acerca de la problemática de la integración de las tecnologías en la enseñanza y en la investigación, entre el comienzo del curso y su finalización; siendo que los factores personales-vivenciales se identificaron como centrales en la consolidación de una disposición positiva de los participantes en pos de dicha integración. Es dable destacar también que las concepciones docentes se vieron influidas por el modelo de enseñanza, acerca del cual los participantes destacaron la integración entre teoría y práctica, enseñanza sincrónica y a-sincrónica y la diversidad de técnicas utilizadas.

Abstract
This paper examines the transformations of the teaching profession in the age of the Information Society, when new technological environments are emerging and influencing the practice of teaching and its planning.
Our aim in this study is to review and analyze different approaches and perspectives that were developed regarding professional teacher training and the meaning and nature of this profession. Following this analysis, we will confirm the existence of four core dimensions in the development and training of the teaching profession: the academic and disciplinary dimension, the technical-pedagogical dimension, the personal and reflective dimension and the dimension of social-communitarian criticism.
In the end, we will conclude that the emerging of new technological environments has contributed to essential changes in those dimensions. Besides, we will note that a fifth dimension is emerging, which will be called “digital dimension in the professional teaching training”.

Resumen
En este trabajo, nuestra intención es analizar un modelo de enseñanza en línea a través de tres de sus componentes didácticos centrales: los contenidos, el rol del tutor y la interacción. El propósito de la investigación es estudiar el lugar que tienen esos componentes didácticos en el modelo de enseñanza en línea, a través del análisis de la percepción de los participantes del curso acerca de ellos. Las conclusiones de esta investigación aportarán a profundizar nuestra comprensión acerca de la metodología de la enseñanza en línea y al enriquecimiento de este modelo didáctico.
El modelo se implementó en dos programas de formación y actualización docente en México y Argentina, en el marco de un programa de cooperación con el Centro Melton de la Universidad Hebrea de Jerusalem.
Se analizaron dos grupos de estudiantes que participaron en los programas durante los años 2007-2008. Un grupo “joven” formado básicamente por estudiantes de profesorado; el segundo “veterano”, formado por docentes con experiencia.
Del análisis efectuado se desprende que el modelo de enseñanza pudo satisfacer, de diversos modos, a los dos grupos. De igual modo, sugerimos que el tipo de abordaje a los cursos en línea se derivó de las características particulares de cada grupo, y de su particular proceso de aprendizaje, como así también de la dinámica particular que dicho modelo plantea.
Para nuestra sorpresa, asistimos a un abordaje “convencional” del grupo joven, y a un abordaje “interactivo”, del grupo veterano.

Abstract
This paper analyzes an on-line teaching model by focusing on three main didactic components: content, the tutor’s role and interaction. The aim of this research is to investigate the influence of those didactic components on on-line teaching model, by examining the on-line course participants’ perception and understanding of them. The research's findings will contribute to the development of the model.
This on-line teaching model was implemented in two teacher training and curriculum-updating programs in Mexico and Argentina, within the framework of academic co-operation between the Melton Centre for Jewish education of the Hebrew University and local educational institutions. This investigation examines two groups that participated in the programs during 2007-2008. One group was composed of young teachers, mostly beginners, and the other group was composed primarily of experienced teachers.
The study reveals that this on-line teaching model satisfied both groups in varied ways. Each group’s approach towards the model was an expression of that group’s particular characteristics and needs, together with its particular process of learning the model and its method.
To our surprise, the group of young teachers had a “conventional” approach towards the teaching model, while the group of experienced teachers had an “interactive” approach.

Resumen
El propósito de este trabajo es señalar el impacto de la evolución tecnológica  sobre las propuestas de enseñanza a distancia en el nivel superior, como así también el valor de la misma a la hora de diseñar, implementar y evaluar propuestas que impactan de manera significativa en sus destinatarios.
La hipótesis que proponemos es que la evolución tecnológica ha devenido evolución tecno-pedagógica y se expresa en el diseño de una nueva organización de la enseñanza a distancia para el nivel superior, en una modalidad que hemos denominado Web Blended-Learning (WB-Learning) superadora de la denominada Blended-Learning (B-Learning).
Como resultado del análisis sostendremos, por un lado, que el surgimiento de los nuevos entornos tecnológicos ha contribuido a enriquecer y profundizar la propuesta de enseñanza, fenómeno al que denominamos “enseñanza aumentada”; por el otro, dichos entornos desafían al docente y configuran un nuevo rol, al que denominamos “el docente global”.

Abstract
This paper examines the influence of information and communication technologies on Higher Education. This study aims to identify the impact of the technological evolution on distance education programs and on designing, implementing and evaluating them, which significantly impact on the students.
Our hypothesis is that technological evolution – from web 1.0 to web 2.0 – has become techno-pedagogical evolution. This is expressed in the design of a new form of distance education for Higher Education; a modality which we called “Web Blended-Learning” (WB-Learning), that overcomes the “Blended-Learning” (B-Learning).
As a result of the analysis, we argue that on the one side, the emergence of new technological environments has helped to enrich and deepen the teaching programs, phenomenon we call “Augmented Teaching”. On the other side, we maintain that those environments challenge the teacher and set a new role, which we call “The Global Teacher”.

Resumen En este trabajo presentaremos el método micro-textual, como una herramienta eficiente de análisis en la investigación que se está desarrollando sobre enseñanza en línea y multiculturalidad en la Educación Superior, en el Centro Melton de Educación Judía de la Universidad Hebrea de Jerusalem. El propósito del trabajo es mostrar de qué manera el método posibilita identificar y caracterizar diferentes tipos de diálogo en los foros en línea, y asimismo examinar su evolución. El método está constituido por una batería conceptual desarrollada para el análisis de textos y su objetivo es contribuir a la comprensión del discurso textual e intertextual y su evolución en cursos virtuales, en particular en la enseñanza superior. El mismo utiliza componentes textuales y contextuales para la comprensión de textos, siendo un componente central el indicador etno-cultural, vinculado a la pertenencia del participante a un grupo religioso o cultural, y a problemáticas relacionadas con su identidad. En la ejemplificación elegida para este trabajo, propondremos analizar cuestiones vinculadas a la interrelación entre los indicadores personales, profesionales y los etno-culturales; así como también al rol del docente en la educación superior en línea. Abstract In this paper, we present the micro-textual method as an efficient analysis tool for the research that is being conducted about online teaching and multiculturalism in higher education, in Melton Centre for Jewish Education in the Hebrew University of Jerusalem.

In this paper, I refer to the transformations experienced by the teaching profession in the information age. I review main statements regarding the problems of the teaching role, considering the existence of four core dimensions in the development of the teaching profession: the academictdisciplinary dimension, the pedagogical dimension, the personal-reflective dimension and the social-community dimension. I examine the emergence of the transnational dimension, as one of the innovative aspects of this era, and its impact on training and on teachers' needs, and I propose the concept of " transnational consciousness " , which can be useful also to redefine the concept of " Jewish Educator " and to develop theoretical lines and practices for their training and updating.

This paper is the result of one academic year's longitudinal study based on discussions that took place in seven online courses, as part of a blended learning academic program at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem. The study's aim was to identify and characterize developmental processes in online discussions, as well as to examine whether, and to what extent, an online environment influences the discourse development within a culturally diverse group. This qualitative study entailed horizontal and vertical analyses of the discussion process, utilizing the micro-textual method, in order to identify the nature and development progress of the discussions. In the course of the study, four types of discourse were identified: personal-autobiographical, disciplinary, professional, and ethno-cultural. Moreover, four directions were identified in the progression of the discourse: discourse developing via antinomic pairs, discourse developing via technological aids, discourse developing in spiral fashion, and an evolving metacognitive discourse. The findings suggest that the online environment is a fertile arena for creating an academic and multicultural learning context.
