Furthermore it aims to evidence its function as topos which marks a boundary passed by scholars who tried to  investigate beyond the Christian doctrine of salvation or for the sake of knowledge.

The article focusses on the relation between the veneration of bishop Bernward of Hildesheim (993-1022) and the production of medieval manuscripts in the benedictine abbey of St. Michael of Hildesheim. The bishops name in these manuscripts  is one of the causes why objects like manuscripts gain meaning similar to relics in Medieval and Modern times.

The essays is a short abstract of the ph.D. (Omnia in mensura et numero et pondere disposita. Die Wandmalereien und Stuckarbeiten von San Pietro al Monte di Civate, Tübingen 2005; publ. Regensburg 2009). It presents the Latin inscriptions which surround a the basically apocalyptic decoration programme of the church. The article aims to show the relations between image and text, furthermore the way in which the inscriptions help to create a rich theological programme.

Marginal sculpture in Puglia, 12th-15th centuries (Bari: San Nicola; Trani: cathedral; Bitonto: cathedral). The essays aims to show that representations of people belonging to foreign ethnic groups such as Arabic or Muslim people do not reflect obligatorily the real historic situation. More often they were meant to illustrate otherness in order to signal social difference.

Book:

In this study for the first time the so called Psalter of Bishop Bernward of Hildesheim (996-1022) is comprehensively analysed with regard to paleography, scribes (Guntbald and others), decoration, and in particular with regard to its special combination of the psalms and liturgical schedules. The aim of the study is to show that the codex is not only a mere psalter, but that its content shows characterics of a breviary.

Excerpt of the dissertation in which the decoration of San Pietro al Monte di Civate (frescoes, stuccos) is comprehensively analysed with regard to stile, iconography and image tradition as well as the relation between image and theological concepts. The study aims to show how the programm of frescoes and stuccos works and who could have been its creator. It can be shown that its particular content corrisponds with the specific attitude of the Ambrosian church of Milan represented by archibshop Arnolfo III. at that time.
Topics of the programme and the study: San Pietro al Monte di Civate, Apocalypse, baptismal rite, rite of penance, archbishops of Milan, Church Reform (11th century) - wall painting/fresco, stucco, romanesque sculpture in Northern Italy, byzantine stile, Aosta
