un monument majeur de l’architecture romane corse, au même titre que la cathédrale de
Mariana, illustrant la fase matura du roman insulaire impulsée par des équipes de bâtisseurs
lucquois et pisans dès les premières années du XIIe siècle. L’étude architecturale du
monument vient compléter les premières observations stylistiques et permet de proposer
une nouvelle chronologie relative ainsi qu’une nouvelle interprétation.

" Le terme e il mare " nasce da un progetto di ricerca che intende studiare i riflessi della gran... more " Le terme e il mare " nasce da un progetto di ricerca che intende studiare i riflessi della grande epoca termale nel territorio, con particolare riferimento ai paesaggi costieri del Mediterraneo dal II all'VIII sec. d.C. Prodotto della cultura romana, in particolare del processo di romanizzazione del Mediterraneo, in epoca imperiale le terme divennero uno degli elementi essenziali alla definizione della vita civile, un naturale complemento al benessere, moltiplicandosi sia nelle città che negli insediamenti minori. Nella Tarda Antichità il loro uso è diffuso a tutti i livelli della società e risponde ai bisogni delle masse urbane, oltre che a quelli dell'élite aristocratica. Scopo del convegno è l'analisi del rapporto fra impianti termali e aree costiere, con particolare riferimento all'area del Nord Tirreno. Per i poster, invece, l'areale geografico sarà del tutto libero. CALL FOR POSTERS Il colloquio propone una sessione interamente dedicata ai poster, i cui argomenti potranno affrontare in ogni aspetto correlato al tema, e in ogni dimensione geografica. I poster accolti saranno esposti in occasione del convegno e gli autori potranno avere a disposizione uno spazio negli atti per una migliore illustrazione di quanto presentato. Un abstract completo di titolo, autori, istituzioni, dell'ampiezza massima di 150 parole, insieme a un CV, dovrà essere inviato alla segreteria del convegno termemare@gmail.com entro il 20 settembre 2016. Sono particolarmente incoraggiate proposte provenienti da giovani ricercatori.

En réponse à un projet d'étude archéologique portant sur quatre sites fortifiés (San Colombanu (R... more En réponse à un projet d'étude archéologique portant sur quatre sites fortifiés (San Colombanu (Rogliano, Haute-Corse), Castellu di Motti (Luri, Haute-Corse), Castellu di Serravalle (Prato-di-Giovellina, Haute-Corse) et le Palazzu de Sampiero (Santa Maria Sicchè, Corse-du-Sud), un récolement de l'ensemble de la documentation et une analyse de l'architecture des monuments ont été réalisés. Commanditée par les Services du Ministère de la Culture (Services Régional de l' Archéologie et des Monuments Historiques), cette étude avait pour finalité de déterminer les séquences chronologiques de l'évolution de ces sites en offrant en conclusion un diagnostic archéologique des vestiges. Dans le cadre limité de cette intervention, l'investigation de terrain devait permettre de réaliser l'enregistrement des informations essentielles à la compréhension de ces sites. Les observations stratigraphiques ont été facilitées par le bon état de conservation de ces vestiges puisque certaines élévations atteignent encore jusqu'à 10 m de hauteur. En revanche, on déplore la réalisation de certains travaux de restauration qui masquent ou parfois même, ont entièrement détruit les vestiges médiévaux. Le volet archéologique a consisté à réaliser des relevés topographiques, photogrammétriques, à examiner les relations stratigraphiques, et à analyser les mortiers (ou les matériaux de construction); autant d'outils d'analyse qui permettent de dresser les caractères généraux des sites. A l'exception du Palazzu de Sampiero, les trois castelli présentent de nombreuses affinités. Érigés à l'initiative de seigneurs, ils occupent le sommet de promontoire rocheux, limitant tout regroupement de l'habitat autour du château. Protégés par les pentes vertigineuses comme pour le Castellu di Motti ou par d'imposants remparts comme pour le Castellu de San Colombanu, les matériaux de constructions employés sont locaux et la source d'approvisionnement ne semble pas changer du moins pour les premières phases de construction. L'exemple du Castellu de Serravalle est intéressant dans la mesure où le travail de la pierre ne s'est pas limité aux chaînages d'angle. Le donjon qui s'élève à plus de 5 m de hauteur est bâti avec des blocs de calcaire qui sont simplement dégrossis ou taillés à la broche pointée. A l'inverse, la partie haute de la construction est appareillée au moyen de moellons de granite brut ou à peine dégrossis prélevés in situ. Un soin esthétique est également apporté aux ouvertures comme par exemple les meurtrières qui sont quelques-fois réalisées avec des blocs de calcaire. Après la première phase d'édification d'une tour et d'une enceinte, c'est à partir du XIIIe-XIVe siècle, que les castelli se présentent comme de véritables résidences seigneuriales. Alors que l'emprise défensive est élargie et renforcée, les castelli sont dotés de nouveaux bâtiments : citerne, salles de vie souvent aménagées sur deux niveaux, espaces de circulation etc. Les dispositifs défensifs sont amenés à évoluer durant le XVe et la première moitié du XVIe siècle avec l'adaptation architecturale de l'utilisation d'armes à feu. La particularité de ces fortifications, du moins pour les castelli de Motti et de San Colombanu, est d'avoir été occupé en continu du XIIe siècle jusqu'au XVIe siècle comme le renseigne la documentation ancienne. Parallèlement à ces sites, le Palazzu de Sampiero a également fait l'objet d'une étude. C'est en 1558, qu'une maison-forte dénommée Palazzu est érigée au lieu-dit Vicu. Représenté sur plusieurs iconographies du XIXe siècle, le bâtiment a subi plusieurs remaniements ayant toutefois peu affectés son dispositif d'ouverture par pont-levis à flèche. Cet élément de défense passive permet d'évoquer la présence d'un ancien fossé autour du Palazzu.
