Particularly significant is the situation of the Marche Region, here it is necessary to intervene quickly and effectively in order to preserve and secure the damaged historical architectural heritage. Following the agreement signed in 2019 between the administration of the Municipality of San Ginesio and the Marche Polytechnic University, a collaboration has been established, which is the basis of the present research work, aimed at studying and deepening the possible actions to be undertaken to be able to repair, preserve and enhance the medieval walls of the city. The city walls, dating from the fourteenth century A.D., almost completely surround the historic center of the city and are characterized by the presence of a large part of the ancient fortifications such as towers, access doors, defensive walkways, loopholes, etc. Since there is no complete survey of the planimetric configuration and of the elevations of the medieval walls, updated to the situation created after the earthquake, the first phase of the research focused on data acquisition. Combining DJI Spark MMA1 photogrammetric UAV images with cloud point by Mobile laser SLAM Kaarta Stencil, the 3D-dimensional modelling of the walls was obtained with the accuracy related to the output scale of 1:200 and with a detail and complexity useful for the following conservative analysis. Once the data was acquired and processed, it was possible to carry out a complete analysis of the walls structure, identifying the materials and construction techniques, the state of preservation of the materials, the damage situation to the structures, the various construction phases with the consequent relative dating. The analytical phase was concluded, therefore, with the identification and cataloging of the types of walls present. Each of these has been characterized both from a typological and a technical-construction point of view, defining the wall quality (IQM) and the consequent mechanical parameters through the calculation process of the Wall Quality Index.

Of these, several, have come to the present day with the architectural consistency of the ruin and, despite their high documentary value, very often characterized by an advanced state of deterioration and neglect that calls into serious risk their preservation and survival. The Castrum Flastrae constitutes a significant synthesis of this reality and, for this reason, has been undertaken a research on this important military fortification with the hope that this work will serve as a concrete starting point for future conservation action and that can serve as driving force for raising awareness and dissemination of a fundamental theme like this for the outback Macerata’s territory and for the “Monti Sibillini National Park”.

The combined geomatic techniques give 3D models of the objects, identifying and integrating any information in a useful GIS. In recent years the research has brought GIS systems closer to the third dimension combining them with the growing interest in 3D visualization and analysis. The aims of the research, in collaboration with the Municipality of Cagnano Varano (FG, Italy), are the protection, conservation and enhancement of Idroscalo Ivo Monti, an architectural and archaeological heritage. The choice of a three-dimensional GIS has allowed not only a real description of environment, but also has provided the collection and management of any information related to the building materials and the degradation of them. useful tool to support the restoration works.

In this context, for the peculiarity of its identity and its property, the object of this study is the "Chiesa della Pietà". This research starts with the photogrammetric survey to document and analyse the existing condition of the church. The data acquisition provides many scans following a network schema and the photographic survey allows to create orthoimages to make more realistic the 3D representation. Once acquired the geometric and material survey, a series of investigations have been carried out to assess the surface degradation and the material decay of the external façades and internal environments. Furthermore, some structural problems have been occurred, investigating and verifying the presence of advanced stages of deterioration of the wooden structures and the restoration of these structural elements must be mandatory. To take under control the decay and to propose a restoration step, we have arranged the 3D model in HBIM software with different LOD, according to the BIM Forum Level of Development Specification (2016), suitable to develop a well-structured information system. Before the 3D modelling phase, a decomposition of the building is useful to implement a semantic classification of the architectural elements. Basing on a hierarchy of classes and subclasses, the dedicated database organizes the building components assigning an ID-code to the features, putting in evidence materials decay by a thematic mapping.

Evolution itself of its place names - from the ancient Rocca Antimo, around which it was developed, the original urban core, in Rocchetta S. Antonio - you can re-read the history of the country at least since at least the eleventh century. From the early years of the sixteenth century this story is closely linked to the presence of the Castle, built by Ladislaus II of Aquino in 1507. It can not say that The Castle Aquinas is an unknown fortification; its particular shape planimetric with a triangular base with three bastions of “almond shape” or, if you will, to “bec d'éperon” (a spur beak) - as the origin of form is due to the French castles of the XI-XII century - has always struck the military architecture scholars, and particularly for its formal similarity with the fortifications of the greatest architect and military writer of the Renaissance in the second half of the fifteenth century, that is the Sienese architect Francesco di Giorgio Martini. The importance of the architect, also commissioned by the major short and noble age - and especially for us by the Aragonese court of Naples - is witnessed by the operating result which had its original and updated works obsidional to new posts to the benchmarks with the technological improvement of firearms and the use of gunpowder, more devastating and feared. A retinue of followers architects and military engineers engaged in the fortification of the Kingdom under the constant threat of the Muslim enemy. Among these, among which we remember especially the florentine Antonio Marchesi from Settignano, must lie the author or at least the implementer of Castello d'Aquino on the model pioneered and popularized by Francesco di Giorgio.

Built in memory of the king Vittorio Emanuele 2nd - the maker of italian unity with his Prime Minister Camillo Cavour - it was designed by Giuseppe Sacconi, a young architect coming from the Marches, that won the international competition in 1884. Sacconi tried to compose in his drawings the whole most significant ornament set of solemn decorations representing the ancient italian architecture. Result was a typical eclectic architecture of XIXth century, which historical quality is today finally revalued. Inaugurated in Rome (Piazza Venezia) on June 04, 1911 in the occasion of the 50th anniversary of Italy's unification, the monument was completed only after the death of his designer (1905). The study goes along again the story af the building site, the archeological excavations, the sculptural masterpieces and their artists, together with the Sacconi’ s architectural curriculum and vocational training. The book was published on June 04, 2011, in the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the inauguration of the Vittoriano
A wide and complete survey on stage design and theatrical heritage of the Marches region in centr... more A wide and complete survey on stage design and theatrical heritage of the Marches region in central Italy, which, in the XIXth century, with a population of less than a million, had 113 functioning theatres. Following an historical essay on architectural design of theatres since classical age until XIXth century the book shows and explains 70 detailed records on now existing historical buildings in the Marches, most of them still preserving original stage machines and decorations realised between XVIIIth and XIXth century. The study also talks about famous scenic artists of the Baroque era, like Nicola Sabbatini from Pesaro, who first treatises perspective stage theory in Europe, or like Giacomo Torelli from Fano, the "grand sourcier" of the "scene mobili" at the court of Louis XIV, "Le Roi Soleil". Several colour pictures, plans and old engravings enrich this book, needful for every historian. Definitive.
